    El Dorado Gate - Dreamcast

I've been getting back into my Dreamcast since my 360 died a few weeks back (warranty has expired and I can't afford to have it fixed or replace it at the mo, grrrr). Dug it out of the wardrobe along with all the games I have, and put it back in pride of place... the centre of the entertainment unit.

Anyway, my deep love for the console has come rushing back, and so to has my need to get hold of games I never got to play, or that took an interest.

And so thats the purpose of my thread. Has anyone ever played an El Dorado Gate game (for those who don't know, it was a serial RPG released only in Japan by Capcom... all seven episodes were released)? If you have played it, what were your opinions? Is it all in Japanese, or is there any chance a non-Japanese reading person could play the game?

Other than that, just chat away about dreamcast and its lost classics, and 'never got out of Japan' releases!

I've played it - number 1, that is. In fact I just sent it to a forum member cos I couldn't really get anywhere cos of the japanese. You may struggle.

It looks lovely though, and as I understand it they're meant to be pretty good...

Hey, Andy from DreamcastSource is here!

I was also interested in ElDorado Gate since Play-Asia were offering one of the games for cheap, but decided against it because of the language barrier.

I have 1 to 6 (Can't find 7 for a good price) they are good games but unles you can understand Japanese they aren't worth bothering with.

Are there any translations online, or is that a bust also? I just always loved the look of these games.

Play-Asia were selling the entire 7 games in a limited edition boxset not too long ago (think it was used). Wonder if they could still track em down, and how much they'd cost!

I ordered the box set about 5 years ago when I was in my collecting Capcom DC games phase but couldn’t get anywhere in the first one and ended up shelving them. Did seem a shame as from what I played it seemed to have a nice game system but the fact I didn’t have the foggiest what was going on meant it was a pointless exercise.

I believe Capcom originally intended the series to be a 12-game set but the premature death of the Dreamcast meant they wrapped it up in game 7.

I have all seven. I have got quite a way into the first part. I think it is quite a good rpg. It is easyer to get into then some import rpg's. The combat is like FF.

I thought it was going to be 24 vols?

It's quite easy to play the combat is kinda oldschool with elements water fire stone? been a while since i played the monsters are colour coded so you know what type there weak against
Really fun game there's three to four quests on each disc and is best played in order but can be played in any order(or disc you have)
I thought it was to be 12 vol's and was planned for the saturn?
It's been a while 3 years since i played these but if you can't understand Japanese go to gamefaqs to understand the battle system and within a hour you'll do fine on the games!
