Megadrive Add Ons..

I've got a MK1 Modded Megadrive (50/60 and uk/jpn switched)

Can you please tell me what add ons are available to me, and maybe recommend what i should go for, including software.

Mega CD and 32x? There isn't much else is there? unless you want to track down some relatively expensive and obscure Japanese accessories like the Karaoke unit and Mega Modem.

Mega CD isn't too bad, Sonic CD, Shining Force CD, Final Fight CD, Snatcher etc are pretty good titles, worth owning one for.. 32x well I haven't sampled many games for that but popular opinion decrees that Knuckles Chaotix is worth a try..?

Oh, and dont forget the Power Base Converter 1 (to play Master System games..)

Final Fight CD just for the soundtrack and the Time Attack modes. Brilliantly arranged music! Few less colours than the arcade but fantastic conversion. I'd personally avoid Chaotix, it's pretty dull and last time I sold a copy it went in excess of £40 - which seems pretty pricy. I enjoyed Star Wars 32X - essentially guiding a cursor around a screen but pretty decent fun.

Are they territory swopable? i.e. Could you put a Japanese Mega CD unit on a PAL Megadrive etc?

Only if your PAL Megadrive is modded with two switches.

The Japanese Mega CD would expect 60hz and Japanese Language setting, a stock PAL Megadrive is 50hz English and so on the screen it would display a message to the effect that you can't use this NTSC hardware on a PAL unit.

Very funny and mostly true, I'd seen some of the videos about NES games but not the 32x and Sega CD (Mega CD) videos.

It's a shame he only seems to concentrate on the **** games though.. and he does tend to dwell on some things for too long i.e. in the 32x video over 45 seconds devoted to how angry he is you can't tell what 32x game is it from looking at the top of the cartridge.. I mean, funny to mention that, and true, but over 45 seconds of going on about it?
