It's not just the borders that are the problem though (and they are bad, real 'letterbox-o-vision' as it used to be known) remember it is also 17% slower. Importing does not cost much, you can find Japan SFII for a few $'s.

Well I've been playing SF2 since 1991, and always the JPN versions. I've never called Balrog "boxer" I know about the JPN names are different, but we're in the UK, so we use the UK names.
I've never once in 16 years come across anyone who has said "Don't you mean M.Bison?".
          Kept you waiting, huh?

What does the name of a website have to do with the name of game charas? There is no irony here, nor is there a problem. I don't know what the joke is either. I don't think there is one tbh, especially considering that I've never, ever heard anyone here call Balrog "boxer", nor have I heard any of the neoempire boys call him it either, and I know lots of them personally.

well if it makes you feel better i will refer to them as their western names ok?

this is a website deicated to import games where character names can vary in some games..........now whether or not you like the names, thats whats used "in the scene" to refere to certain characters.

you made a joke of it, and i find it quite patronising.

anyhow no biggy, lets move on.

No, no. You can refer to them however you want. The point I'm trying to make is that if I was talking about SF2 to somebody or indeed if someone was talking to me about it and the name "boxer" was used instead of Balrog I would question it or expect to be questioned about it. I've never heard of it before in my life. If you refer to them in that way then you should also expect to be questioned about it, exactly how you have been here. It seems to over-complicate things to me as I'm damned sure that if you were to say Balrog to 100 people, at least 99 of them would know who you meant.
"In the scene" eh? I'm a regular in Casino, and I've never heard it before there either. What scene are you referring to exactly? I must be a scene that is only present at SRK.
I made a joke of it because I found it funny. I'm a hard man to make laugh to so you should be pleased with yourself, not feeling patronised.

We can move on though. We will.

lol if your in casino a lot you MUST have heard it mentioned. some of the guys in there use the terminology a lot.

you know neoempire? most casino mans are members of that site too.

anyhow, tbh the names were originally used to SAVE confusion, hence boxer(brain surgery?) claw(again?) dictator(?). elementary my dear watson.

this is the last place i expected to find the terms used(look at the tiers midway down):
The biggest fighting game tournament in the world returns. Get all the details on Evo’s three action-packed days plus the crowning of new World Champions.

anyhow we understand each other i think, so lets discuss what makes ssf2 better than HF.

I'm one of the oldest members of neoempire, I know the site owner. I don't visit often anymore unless I have something specific to say as I find it, well I don't speak in that way anymore "mans" etc and it's something of an ongoing cussing match there. I know lots of the guys from Casino are users there, both places have strong links to each other. Next time I'm in Casino I shall indeed listen out for it though. It's boxer, claw and dictator you say? Actually, I'm gonna call up Starkey right now to see what he has to say about it too.

Super holds up better nowadays I feel. The CPS-1 games are too basic today. 2-Up games become boring quite quickly.

So how crazy must I be for preferring CE over HF and SSF2?

HF for me is too unbalanced. I feel that Chun-Li is too powerful with her fireball, and Ryu/Ken were made even more powerful with their ability to do mid-air hurricane-kicks. All the while, **** characters like Zangief get **** all upgrades. As for SSF2, the new characters are wank and so is the music.

The music is great on Super SF2 on the SNES and its fun to just beat up the new characters ! lol + the 4 new stages are pretty cool.

And if you're as good as me you dont need any new upgrades for the other characters
