    Help wanted - PS2 fighters

Big fan of fighting games - 2D, 3D, Beat 'em Ups, Hack and Slash etc., especially those on the PS2... I've already got quite a few but am looking to add more, so anyone got any recommendations? My only stipulation is that they must be available in the UK, or are UK compatible (and playable on a PS3 too).

I do prefer the 2D fighters so if I'm missing any essentials let me know

    I have:
    Art of Fighting Anthology
    King of Fighters 2000/2001
    King of Fighters 2002
    King of Fighters 2003
    King of Fighters XI
    King of Fighters Neowave
King of Fighters Maximum Impact 1+2
    Neo Geo Battle Coliseum
    Samurai Showdown V

    Capcom Fighting Jam
    SNK vs Capcom
    Capcom vs SNK 2
    Crimson Tears
    Dragonball Z: Budokai 3
    Final Fight Streetwise
    Saint Seiya The Hades
    Soul Calibur 2+3
    Spectral vs Generation
    Hyper Streetfighter 2
    Streetfighter EX3
    Streetfighter Alpha Anthology
    Tekken 4
    Urban Reign
    Zombie Zone
    Zombie Hunters
    Zombie Hunters 2

    On my "To Buy" list:
    Guilty Gear X
    Guilty Gear X2
    Guilty Gear X2 Reloaded
    Bloody Roar 3
    Bloody Roar 4

    So what am I missing?

You might as well chip your PS2 or pick up a 2nd hand Jap PS2 so you can enjoy games that aren't availaible in PAL land such as:

    SF3: Third Strike
    KOF'98 Ultimate Match
    Sengoku Basara X
    Guilty Gear Accent Core

I don't think Third Strike was released standalone outside of Japan was it? I think it's only available as a part of the anniversary pack in the UK.

Yeah, Microsoft had the exclusive on Third Strike in the UK.

I'm surprised you missed God Hand off that list. That and Beat Down - not as bad as many made it out to be.

Devil Kings (hack and slash, capcom) - the Western 1.5 version of Sengoku Basara, a bit b*stardised (with poor voice acting and the entire story changed) but still pretty fun like the original game.
Should be pretty cheap as well, think i bought it for about 7quid brand new.

No idea about PS3 compatibility but:-

Not really a recommendation (far from it) but Tekken Tag Tournament is an obvious omission but what should be included is Tekken 5 - best Tekken since T3 in most people's option.

Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution should be on that list too.

I'm with Kongstar you need either a modded pal machine or a Jpn one because if you like your fighters you are seriously missing out.

Sooooo many great fighters which arent out over here...

                Vampire Chronicles
                Rumble Fish
                Hokuto No Ken
King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match
                Melty Blood
                Arcana Heart
                Garou

The list just goes on & on

Seriously if you love your fighters you owe it to yourself to get a Jpn machine.

                  I was going to say...

You've got Tekken 4 already, so you'd be doing yourself a huge service by picking up the fifth game. Its much better, a solid return to form for the series.

It also contains Tekkens 1, 2 and the mighty Tekken 3 on the disc, so it is a must for fighting fans.

Also - Godhand, Godhand, Godhand and Godhand. One of the absolute best of the genre, and of games in general.

If you got Streetwise and enjoyed Urban Reign, why not trying Beat Down: Fists of Vengeance?

Can't believe no one mentioned: Marvel vs Capcom 2 or Dead or Alive 2!

Guilty Gear Isuka, also got a PAL release not sure not sure if they work on a PS3.

There quite a few scrolling beat'em up's with swords, e.g. Sinobi, Bujingai: Sword Master let me know if you want a list of them.

I know you say pal stuff only but if you ever get the chance to play imports be sure to get the ps2 version of SF3 3rd Strike, it's 2D fighting perfection and leagues better than any of the other fighters on your list. It's also the most accurate home version of the game. Other import recommendations would be Arcana Heart which is suprisinlgy good imo and World Heroes Anthology which I think is slated for a PAL release.

As long as we are talking imports I would throw this in as well:

                              Seriously good fu'un! (*GROAN*)
