The tech specs are good. 2x68000 plus a 6502. That beats the NeoGeo - except the games don't look anywhere near as impressive as you'd expect.

In the right hands - I bet the machine would really shine.

I'd buy a new 16-bit console - if it was released today. I just wan't 16-bit games on 16-bit hardware.

When devs have 1080P - millions of colours, and 5.1 sound to play with, the 2D games never seem as charming as old ones for limited hardware.

    I love the 68000 chip.

I'd never heard of this before, so thanks for the intro, I got all buzzed-out searching for crap about this console.

I only found one proper ingame YouTube vid about this, it was a Sonic-type game with some bloke wielding a bat and Strider-style enemy explosions, it looked well-****, but slick at the same time.

Graphics look like they could've been nicely exploited, yet this machine came out so fatally late for 2D bonanzas - the Saturn and PS1 were the only thing peeps wanted back then.

Christ, what a crazy business decision. Do all the Dragon's Den failures pop over to the bits of The East that aren't Japan and fob them off with ideas like this console? And then get it produced?...

I'd still love to see any more vids about this system, or hear about other peoples' opinions about it - I'm properly interested (****, that takes a lot, I'm serious.)

I don't think it has two 68000s, just one 68000 and one 6502.

Personally I think it is a reverse-engineered SFC with a 68000 slapped in for good measure. The hardware similarities and the mode 7 style effects in that 'Speedy Dragon' video support this theory.

Could be but if you play Burning Force by Namco on the Mega Drive you'll see that that game also has the very same effect and it's much smother than the ACan game you saw.

You are right. I misread the specs. Looked like 2 68000.

Well of course that effect is possible in software too.

I'm not saying that the Super A'Can is just clone, but I think calling it an original console is a bit strong. Also, I don't think the hardware is capable of much more than either the MD or SFC.
