Trying to play through Metal Slug 1,2,3 back to back on AES mode. I can finish 1 in 3 credits or so but I get slaughtered on the last level of 2 with the UFOs and can only get to the space part of the last level on 3 so far. More practice needed I think!

        What's that dash there for?!?

A friend of mine brought his PS2 over to my house soon after it was released. I was so excited by SSX that, in desperation, I bought a copy of 1080. A fabulous game on its own terms, but even now - years late - having played SSX Tricky I still cannot get the kick I got from SSX first time round.

I've been playing Mole Mania (gb) on the way to work for the past few days after grabbing it for a couple of quid on ebay. It's one of my favourite games ever.
The mechanics and levels are well thought out, never *too* hard and it has bags of charm.
Loving my gameboy at the moment.

Been playing Zinc a lot, I especially like Star Gladiator 2 And Tech Romancer. Highly underrated games. Too lazy to connect the Dreamcast.

Also some Rave Racer, great gameplay. Drifting's more forgiving than RR1 but harder than RR6 and on. Best in the series I think.

                Super Metroid
Currently have 5 energy tanks, 2 reserve tanks, 75 missiles, 15 super missiles, 20 super bombs, charge, ice and spazer beams, the varia suit, morph ball and morph ball bomb, hi jump boots and the speed booster. At the moment I'm in Maridia in need of the suit for water, but mainly after the scanner so I can revisit and look around for the 100% rating.

Next task after that is to carry on in Yoshi's Island and grab my missing 100% scores. Done it before a few times but fancied it again coz it's such a quality game.

Have also been playing Equinox on and off too for a change of pace.

Oh and earlier I had my usual occasional bash on Football Champ... just because. Tried out Hat Trick Hero on the SNES but they broke it in porting, you can't hold buttons to buffer moves and I noticed something else that was broken which slips my mind right now, so went back to playing it on MAME.

Super Metroid. What a game. One of the best ever made for me.

I like the dash a bit too much ... I need therapy

I enjoyed SSX when it came out. Never been a fan of snowboarding games, but SSX was a fun. 1080 isn't as over-the-top, but for its time.. it was fantastic.

Equinox is a very impressive game. It seemed so different to most snes games - when it came out. Tough game, though.

Hat Trick Hero was crap on the snes. I much prefered Super Formation Soccer, which was fun once you got used to it, and the music is catchy.

I've never played anything else in the genre (except for the horrible, horrible SNES game Val d'Is?re Championship), but Amped for the Xbox is a true masterpiece.

I don't know whether it qualifies as "retro", but nevertheless. I couldn't care one bit less about snowboarding as a real-life sport, but that game is fantastic. A genuinely old-school game, dressed in fancy polygon clothes, where you have to try and try again to get the highest possible score. Great stuff.

vivanonno to be frank. You need the vivanonno dumps, the ones from MAME won't work IIRC. Its World-B version I play. There is a site that has both, but posting is probably violating the rules here.

if you have a decent system, it will run flawless with texture reductions and filters all off.. making it like the coin op.

I finally found a little place I could permanently set up the Vectrex so I got it down from the loft and I'm, once again, addicted to Minestorm II. I just love those vectors.
