You'd love hucards then, which actually have a thing on the back saying 'this game belongs to...' and a space for the owner's name. I've got a couple of cards with japanese guy's names written on the back in kanji.

I've added Rockman world 2, which I've been enjoying recently, even if it is pretty hard. Will have another go on Castlevania 2 as well later, see if it really does deserve to go on the list, but I wasn't really convinced on my first play.

Edit: nevermind! I've been playing the first castlevania! god damn japs not numbering them.

Oh, and it's just classic gameboy. As Jason said, there's too many to whittle down even without including Color games. Besides, it's classic Gameboy's birthday!

Yeah I think the DS version is the definitive one. There was a second one on the Gameboy, but it never came out here (nor did the SFC version apart from on VC AFAIK). Mole Mania is genius, that really needs a DS update as well. It's one of Miyamoto's hidden gems .
As for puzzle games in general, they work really well on hand-held formats. It's a bit of a shame that they weren't more popular here in the West.

Oh and a quick mention to Alien 3 on the Gameboy, that was a top game. It has more in common with an RPG, and is vastly different to the other console versions available at the time.

I've got both the Gameboy picross games, but I've not started on the second one yet. They're a little awkward after playing the DS one for so long.

Now this is a list Im impressed with!

Links Awakening and Pokemon in my eyes should both be number 1 though :P

A few others to consider... Final Fantasy Legend II, Kirbys Dream Land.
Im also a big fan of Mario Land 1, a good one when you have an hour spare!

legend II? lmao Sod off! Legend III, bitch! Still, seiken densetsu beats all 3. May try to squeeze dreamland in, but it's just too easy.

I'd also agree that 'vania 2 deserves a place, though I know it's not a popular choice so I can understand its omission. I'd say Metroid 2 deserves a place though, especially being an exclusive. Tetris should definitely be at the top of the list!

Wario land was the best for me. Remember playing that for ages as a youngster

Kirbys Pinball Land is by far my favourite GB game.

Here are some that come to mind for me:

                      1. Tetris DX
                      2. Zelda: Link's Awakening DX
                      3. Pokemon Red/Blue
                      4. Harvest Moon GBC
                      5. Metal Gear Solid
                      6. Mario Land 2

Tetris DX might be a controversial choice, but I prefer it to the original. The first one has better music, obviously, but I like the feel of Tetris DX a lot more and like the clean look and the little flourishes when you clear four lines at once.
