Sort of like another Mega Drive thread

It looks like I'm going to source another Sega nomad very soon thanks to someone on rllmuk. While I'm looking for game recommendations I'm going to set myself a test of not buying anymore before I've completed the ten I already have.

With this in mind, what would you recommend that will a, give me my money's worth and look cool on a small screen.

Oh and it's only really nine choices as I'm getting Strider.

nah probably not actually, cos Earthworm jim's awesome animation won't look as great on a tiny screen, and I only really like ZOOM! because of it's tremendous box art.

my favs on MegaDrive are: Streets of Rage II, Shadow Dancer (but you can get Shinobi III as well, many people prefer it to Shadow Dancer), Splatterhouse 3.
then you'll need a shmup, ofcourse. I would suggest Steel Empire, but I'm not sure it looks good on a tiny screen, so go for Truxton instead, or maybe Hellfire, if you like more elaborated gameplay. then Castle of Illusion, and I would suggest Robocop vs Terminator, nice bloody platform/shooter.

Road Rash? I'm guessing that will look and play good on the portable screen.

Maybe a waste to get anything thats already on the Sega Mega Collection as I know you plaenjoy that from your posts, so I would say Revenge of Shinobi or Shadow Dancer instead of Shinobi III.

ESWAT, Being playing this on one of those blaze handheld megadrive things. Amazing, Shinobi with guns, Rolling thunder meets Robocop, buy it.

Not sure how good Thuderforce IV or M.U.S.H.A Aleste will look on a small screen but they should be in everybody's MD collection.

EDIT: Ooh, just thought... SF2:SCE would be good as the Nomad is the only (?) handheld with 6 face buttons. If you're after an RPG, the text is fairly big in the Shining Force games so I reckon they'd be okay on the small screen.

But thats being really selective there are literally hundreds more I'd pick as well.
You deffinitley need a PGA Tour game in there as well not to mention Turtles Hyperstone Heist & Sensible Soccer.

And, like, others. But, you know, now that I think about it, Micro Machines '96 is the big one there. It was MD exclusiove if I remember correctly and it was the pinnacle of the MM games. Very challenging too. And didn't it even have a track editor? And extra controller slots in the cart? Not sure how that would work on the Nomad but it's perfect MM gaming.

Exactly as Dogg Thang mentioned, Dynamite Headdy best platformer on the system imo, Soleil, better than Zelda and also the Strike series (Desert, Jungle, Urban), Landstalker and Rolling Thunder 3, hours of gameplay in all of these.

John Madden 92 - Its still ace to play onthe Bog

Ghost N Ghouls - The best version and hands down the best inthe series

Revenge Of Shinobi - The Only MD game to come close to Mario IV sheer perfection


Adv Of Batman And Robin - Make sure you're onthe Bog, because you'll sh8t your slef with all the Special Effects on offer , from the 1 and only Mr John O'Brien (makes sure to get the US cart , as its region locked)

Roadrash II - Imo the best inthe series , with some stunning animation

Mercs - imo the best home version of the game

RAMBO III is a top laugh too

They ruined the Western version by increasing the difficulty, the JPN version is a lot better, bosses take a lot less hits so it's easier to complete.
