Where as I love the Retro Collection section, I do worry that its a free advert for thieves.
Holding up games with a description saying theyre worth £X amount, right next to your name printed in a publication that is read across the country? No thanks.

Its easy to track people down by name via the net now, a name, followed by a quick search on facebook, myspace, whatever. Find the eBay account, win and auction and get the address to send a cheque to and you're set.

All it needs is someone in such a desparate situation they would do anything for a quick profit... For all you know, there could be someone like this doors away from you.

Dont get me wrong though, I love the section in RG and im over paranoid, I know. I just worry at times that people havent thought through what theyre doing showcasing their collection.

Well I'd say you're being far, far too paranoid. We've been doing this for three years now and no one has ever had a theft. It's not as though we're giving out GPS details to where these people live

The other thing is, a collection worth several thousand pounds would be fairly massive, how the hell is anyone going to burgle that much stuff? Burgle is a funny word.

I'm going to have nightmares now about hoards of nerds and geeks (no offence intented to fellow Retro Gamer readers!) plotting to steal my collection!!!
Do you think that Retro Gamer has a big fanbase in the burglar community? I am not in the least bit concerned.
Besides, You would need an army to steel from me!

                I'll second that.

Oh I know I'm being over paranoid, as I said in the first post I made.
I'm not suggesting thieves read RG either...

My point was that if your making it general knowledge that oh have a house full of valuble games, you've only yourself to blame if they did get nicked (even by the truck load)

Besides I spoke to your fellow writer Ash about this when he asked me if I wanted to be featured in this column. According to him, I'm not the only one who feels this way. He said it was a common response and he totally understood.

Not to worry, no other gamers would want your SNES collection anyway, it's PAL

Could you not just give your first name or use a RG forum name?

Total agree with you Cauterize and I've also run into a few people who have featured in it, purely by chance.

I've never really liked the feature either, too much showing off for my liking.

I'm not a fan of the new collector's corner.... Does anyone enjoy seeing a load of spines / boxes alongside a smug face?
The 'I've got one of those' single-item (Space Manbow) format was fantastic in comparison. Couldn't this replace collector's corner? I don't think the item need be expensive, or even rare. An passionate / interesting story about why and how the item was persued would be enough for me. Not sure about how others would feel though.
