Is your favourite console not one of the main choices? (PS2, SNES, DS, Dreamcast)

Just curious as to what peoples favourite consoles are outside of the normal candidates like PS2, SNES, DS, Dreamcast

Personally my favourite console will probably always be the Gamecube.
I LOVE the wavebird plus Dpad aside I think the gamecube controller was easily the best controller last gen.

Plus then theres the gameboy player and of course freeloader, when I got crazy taxi and later Animal crossing both NTSC, my first venture into import gaming outside of a Gameboy game I bought on holiday.

As well as GBA connectivity which while criminally underused was pretty awesome, specially in Pac man vs and animal crossing

while some people may not be impressed with the cubes catalogue I personally think it's f-ing brilliant

Gamecube is host to some of my favourite games of all time (included multiplatform titles as I would buy them on cube over xbox/ps2):
    Beyond good and evil
Prince of persia sands of time
    Super monkey ball
    Luigis mansion
    Zelda windwaker
    Super smash bros melee
    Zelda twilight princess
    XIII
    Donkey konga
    Donkey kong jungle beat
    wario world
    ikaruga
    Metroid prime
    Animal Crossing
    F zero GX
    Soul Calibur 2
    Paper mario 2
    Tales of symphonia
    Zelda 4 swords
    wario ware inc
    custom robo
    + many more

but lastly not forgetting my favourite developer/pubisheer last gen:
    Capcom!

Seems they were what Rareware were to the N64, the only other developer capable of matching Nintendo's output with amazing titles like:
    Resident evil REmake
    Viewitful joe
    P N 03
    Killer 7
    Resident evil 4

all of which are some of my favourite games of all time (particularly REmake, Viewtiful joe and RE4)

+ Re 2,3, CV ports, RE zero (wasnt a fan myself), Viewtiful joe 2

yep my fave is the cube also. without a shadow of a doubt the best machine of last gen (unless the dreamcast counts, then im sure someone will debate that). i still love the wii but for me the cube wins. there was one point where i thought maybe ninty were going to bow out of the home console race, and to be honest, i think the cube would have been a fitting end.

+ it was also nice to have capcom back on board after they pretty much totally ignored the 64

The Saturn is still my favourite console. I've had 5 of them now and always wonder why I ever sold the first one. All those great 2d shooters and fantastic Sega coin op conversions. Not to mention great originals like Panzer Dragoon and some of Treasure's best work.
I also think that the white Saturn is the best looking console ever released as well.

Saturn is my all time fav console , nothing comes close to that wonder machine .
2nd to that to the Saturn , is the Mega CD - and I'm sure not many will ever agree with that .
I'm also a massive fan of the Master System and 3DO , yet they never seem to get the credit they deserve. The Master System line up , is equal to that of the Mega Drive or PS . So many good games , and all genre's pretty much covered

My favourite console is defiantly the N64. It was the first console I ever owned and the back catalogue has loads of fantastic games that I still love to play to this day like Zelda: OOT/Majoras Mask, Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooie etc.

Saturn for me any day of the week.

It's the only console I've never got rid of since I got one for my 21st Birthday back in 1998...everything else has been sold & rebought at some point over my gaming career (With the exception of my 360)
My modded PAL machine is sat in the loft having been replaced by a white Japan unit but I'll never part with it.

I love it there are soooo many great classics.
I still play this machine more than anything else in my collection.

The Snes is my all time fave, but if I have to pick a best overlooked console I think I will go with the PC Engine.

I'v only owned for since last year but it's easily the best 8 bit console I'v played and there is so much brilliant titles on it.

I will always have a soft spot for my Neo Geo AES as well. I spent years wishing I could have one, and now I'v got one I feel like the retro king! No other console has ever made me feel so smug.

probably the same for me as well

i grew up with this machine and in the early 90's the SNES/MD just didnt quite have the muscle for the quality bruisers that were created on the NG and the ports of AOF/SS/FF kinda show this EVEN THOUGH takara did the best job they could

the scaling effects on AOF still look great and the fact the actually showed bruising on their faces was another plus in the early 90's

Plus i loved all the Data East games that appeared on the NG, especially Windjammers and Spinmaster

My love for the SFC only happened around 3-4 years ago

I'd have to choose the Saturn myself. I remember buying a copy of the official Saturn mag to read an article about the Dreamcast and was totally blown away by the Saturn games they were showing. I'd played almost nothing but PlayStation for the previous 3-4 years (with a little bit of N64) and had almost forgotten what a beautifuly drawn 2D game looked like. I was unemployed at the time and so instead of actually buying a console I just got the last 4 editions of the magazine and drouled over the articles for the next year or so.

Initially it was games like Metal Slug, Street Fighter Zero 3, Dungeons & Dragons Collection, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter and Radiant Silvergun that impressed me most. Later on I got into Sega Rally and a load of shooters (Battle Garegga and The Game Paradise in particular) before I was blown away by Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Although I've probably played almost everything I'd want to play on the system and don't use it anyway near as much as I used to it will always have a special place in my heart. I see it as a last hurrah for 2D gaming that just happened to have some great 3D titles as a bonus. It was also the first retro and import console I seriously collected for so I've got fond memories of tracking down rare and expensive titles to add to the collection.

At the moment I'm playing through Exhumed which is an amazingly well designed and executed game that has captivated me more than anything I've played for ages on any console.

Share the Saturn love. I got an import modded unit from $h@d0w on here. It is unlike anything else I have ever played, seeing Panzer Dragoon Zwei for the first time only 2 years ago, the water effect and the high resolution parts of certain games.

Lovely Liver bird, BigDeadFreak, you from there? I have just left Liverpool, going away on a bicycle tour in a couple of weeks.

Nah, I live about as far south as you can get in Brighton. I'm just a glory hunting OOTer, lol.

32X for me. Afterburner, Virtua Fighter, Mortal Kombat 2 and of course the greatest racer and the ultimate version of Virtua Racing Deluxe.

                              Saturn, definitely.

It was my teen console, and I had it around the time I was getting into computers anyway so I could appreciate things a bit more. I was quite young when I had my MD (got my Saturn at 13, but MD at around 8 or 9), so my Saturn was the home of my genuine gaming memories. Summer time is Sega time for me, once my exams are up next week I'm breaking out the Saturn (and DC) for some blue sky Sega action. I can't wait to hear the bootup sound again (and probably have to replace the battery...again)
