    RE1 question

I just finished the US PSN version, so obviously its the US version of directors cut dual shock.

Now I played it in normal, vanilla RE1 mode. What was with the music ? It was totally different to the music I'm used to, could it be I've only played DC all this time, hardly any of those spooky tunes I'm used to.

Barry died too and I didn't even fight the tyrant 2nd time, or get a grading at the end.. did they really change all this in directors cut?

I'll play arranged mode soon I guess and find out.

Whats with the password for the computer being 'mole' too , I always thought it was 'cell'

Which characters die depends on choices made during the game. Can't remember exactly,

but there was one involving you taking his gun off him.

You have to give Barry his gun back I believe for him to live...

Or maybe that's just the Cube version talking.

The music was different. I noticed too but after reading up on it, this is normal as the Dual Shock version of Director's Cut had a new orchesteral soundtrack. It's **** compared to the one on the original game.

Barry dieing is normal depending on how you play through the game. I don't think you get a choice to

        return his gun

in the Playstation versions, but depending on which cutscenes you get with Barry (which depends on the route you take through the game) he will meet you in the undergroun area. You get to make 2 choices about whether to trust him or not (I think, this is going from memories over 10 years ago) and depending on what you decide depends on whether he

comes back to help you when Wesker captures you. If he comes back, he lives. If not you see him half dead when you leave.

This was the case in the original game. Also, you only fight Tyrant twice if you rescue your "helper" character (i.e. Rebecca for Chris, Barry for Jill).

I noticed a few little differences on my playthrough of this. I could have sworn the keys for desks that Chris has to collect were called "Small Key" in the original game yet they are called "Desk key" in this. Not sure if this is a change made for Director's Cut or just the Dual Shock version.

Ive not played the original PSX version, as I had teh Saturn one, but im 90% sure its more that what happens in the game is pretty much the same. But yes, like others have said, your choice and how long it takes you to do certain things through out the game affects the final outcome. IIRC there is -

          (if you play as jill)

Good ending = Jill, Chris & Barry escape
Ok ending = Jill and Chris escape
          Bad ending = Jill escapes

          (if you play as Chris)

Good ending = Chris, jill & Rebecca escape
ok ending = Chris and Jill escape
          Bad ending = Chris escapes

I remember I tried to see all the different cut scenes by avoiding certain rooms. This was actually quite difficult as certain goodies had to be sacrificed in order to meet and do certain things at different points to trigger an different 'cut scene'.

It really impressed me how much logic Capcom put into the game back in the day. Quite clever in some parts.......

Must admit though im not sure about the grading system as Ive always assumed its been a part of the game.

Thanks guys, and yes, the music in the dual shock version is absolutely rubbish. I hope when playing arranged mode (with double ammo cheat ) that its the original music, that was a big part of it for me.

I believe you have to wait while Barry gets you a rope, and you need to team up with him later on. I think the MO discs are vital for saving the other player thus getting 2 Tyrant fights and the perfect ending.

'Mole' has always been right afaik.
