Very fond memories of both Amiga versions of Batman: The Caped Crusader and the Batman movie game.

After SFC Batman Returns, GB Batman: Return of the Joker would get my vote too.
Lost hours to this when it first came out.

I remember enjoying the early C64 game (side on), and later the movie version, but both have aged badly now. At the time the movie game was astounding, following Ocean's movie tie in blueprint of different style levels (see also Darkman, Robocop and the Untouchables).

Same here, though the Amiga version's 3D bits were fab.

Surprised there is so much love for Batman Returns on the SNES. I thought it was okay but just a fairly standard walk along beat em up.

Top for me is probably Batman on the NES as this is what I have the fondest memories of. I can still remember going to get it...

A friend and I were getting taken to Toy's R Us to get some games, I was going to get Tecmo World Wrestling and he was going to get Batman. The day we were due to go there was an horrendous snowstorm and roads were treacherous. As we were still young and it was my older Bro who had agreed to take us; my friends mum forbid him to go!!

My Bro and I braved it.

When I got to Toys R Us I couldn't find TWW anywhere so when we went to ask the lady if they had any in stock. She said no, but by chance I spotted one out of the corner of my eye lying behind the counter. She didn't know why it was there but told me I could have it and I went home happy as Larry...BUT DISASTER!!! There was a reason this particular copy of the game was sitting behind it counter - it didn't work! (I can still remember turning it on and seeing it flashing on and off! >_<).
Anyway my Bro very kindly agreed to take me back to Toys R Us for a 2nd time (through the horrendous weather) where I traded the borked TWW for Batman

We got home safe and sound, I began to play and loved it! My m8 came round later that day and was proper jealous, not only that I had gotten to go but that I had ended up with the game he wanted.

I'm a big fan of Batman of Robin on the SNES too. The Riddlers Riddle to fight the Minotaur had me stumped for ages! I got it by complete chance as well, I was thinking something complete different that ironically had the same initials as the answer! ;D

I liked Batman Returns, preferred it to Final Fight. But as it stands its a fairly basic and dull beat-em-up, it came out at the time i was happily playing and having more fun with Streets of Rage 2. Its definetly a nice looking game though. Konami always impressed me back in the day especially the music they did too.

I think Konami lost it after the snes era, personally.

Konami's Batman Returns for the SFC for me as well. I would vote for the Mega CD game but those cheap ass God awful looking and playing platform levels just kill a perfectly good game unless you just play the driving sections.

Yep.. it has basic gameplay, but.. it's the quality of the visuals, sound and overall design that makes it such a great experience. StreetsOfRage2 is better, but.. considering BMR sticks to the story of the movie, Konami did a great job.

Konami were great at making 2D games. I haven't been fond of the company after the 16-bit generation. Then again.. I think Capcom, Nintendo, Sega, haven't been as good after the 16-bit age. It's obviously because I like 2D gaming. If someone loves 3D games, they would have the opposite opinion.

I don't think that Batman Returns gameplay was too simplistic. As well as your standard Final Fight alike moves there was the bonus of being able to use the enviroment to inflict extra damage on the bad guys, as well as bashing their heads together, which I don't remember coming up in too many games of that era.

Also you had the other levels which mixed up the gameplay styles later in the game.

Batman on the Nes is the one I have fondest memories of - played it over & over when I was but a tyke; brilliant music, very satisfying action. Great game.
