Original XBOX ->FREE DLC<-

I'm sure most people are aware of this but for those that don't, all original XBOX DLC is currently free as they are killing the XBOX LIVE April 15th service

Grab it whilst you can, as some titles may already have had the DLC killed
DLC stating a charge at the download screen is chargable, I have had to emails confirming my PGR2 purchased DLC

The Halo 2 content went back up about a week ago. It had been taken down until the announcement about Live and then MS put it back up. I downloaded it to my second console because you cannot copy or move Xbox content. Bungie are trying to organise a final Halo 2 day on 14 April.

I had heard that all the DLC was back up, after it had all been pulled. (Or a bug if you believe MS)

Haven't been online yet but I'm going to try and get the DLC for Vietcon this weekend as I'll be on live.

Microsoft man was clueless as usual, suggested I buy a 360 After I told him I have one and to answer my question he put me on hold and reckons that games stating they charge actually do so? But did not sound overly confident tbh

Do I need a paid/active Xbox Live account to access this download content? I had an account a few years ago that I signed up for with an Xbox Live 12 Month Starter Pack, but it obviously will have expired now, although I heard rumours that the last few months of Xbox Live will be free?

Also, just curious to know if all this DLC is tied to a specific console once downloaded? (Just curious if I could transfer DLC between softmodded Xbox consoles using FTP) Also, has anyone considered 'archiving' all this DLC before it becomes unavailable?

I signed up again with a trial code, but if you have a 360 account you may be able to use that?

I think they should re-work Halo 2's multiplayer component as an Arcade title.

That's pretty foul. I must have a few last games of it before it's gone to remind me of my favourite pasttime in Summer 5 years ago.

Gaming seems to badly want to be as accepted and respected as the film industry, but for that, it's going to have to start taking better care of its past, rather than disabling large parts of games (and sometimes whole games!) when the next version comes out...

Nothing to stop people from having a good old-fashioned LAN party if they want to play some multiplayer. It's inconvenient but it'd probably be more fun than semi-anonymously logging into XBL every time.
