NTSC RF Signal On Pal TV

This Might Work Because When I Plug In My SNES, I Use An RF Cable But To Make It Work, I Have To Use My TV's Auto Tune. When I Auto Tune However, Channel 2 Says "Channel 2 PAL" And Will Display My SNES With Full Sound And Colour Quality But On Channel 1 It Says "Channel 1 NTSC" And When I Try The SNES On That Channel, The Sound Plays Fine But The Image Flickers Like Mad And Is In Black And White.

So My Question Is, If I Imported A Japanese RF Only Console, Would It Work On Channel 1? I'm Not Using A Channel Selector Either. Just Auto Tune.

Well first off I'd just like to say you don't have to start every word with a capital letter That must have taken you aaggeess to type!

If it doesn't work with the SNES then you have no chance with anything else you will just get distorted colours or lack of each time.

Capital letters may be down to a mobile device.

Anyway can you not use a av lead from the multi out socket? Does the tv support av?

What kind of clockwork TV are you using? Don't you have a Euro Connector (RGB Scart) or at least RCA composite?

But no. You'd need a PAL booster to run an SFC via RF unless you have a multisystem TV. However, it appears you can run an NTSC RF signal, so you may well be ok.

RF only JPN console? White PCE is it? or maybe a Famicom. There are surely alternatives you could buy.
          Kept you waiting, huh?

What TV are you using? Unless it's specifically a multi-system TV with a multi-system tuner, you won't have any luck over RF.

It'll be much easier (and better quality) to go with Composite video, S-Video, or RGB SCART if the console supports it.

I said, when I use auto tune, channel 1 displays the black and White flickerry screen and says NTSC for my PAL SNES but channel 2 says PAL and displays it perfectly. I was wondering if I plugged in a famicom would it work on channel 1?

                I would imagine so.

What is the TV model, that would help.

It is a RED TV from sainsbury's model number: 586-431. I know it is NTSC compatible as it supports all 60hz games and I can play US DVD's on it. By the way, here are some pics of the 2 channels:

                  My PAL SNES's RF cable:

The perfect channel 2 displaying Mario World:

The thing that appears in the corner that says "PAL":

Channel 1 and it's weird picture:

Channel 1's corner thing saying "NTSC":

Just thought that might clear a few things up. Also, like I said, I want to know if a Famicom would display on channel 1.

Looks like the RF channel can support an NTSC signal.

The reason people are doubtful, is because most televisions in the past, couldn't display ntsc signals over RF.

It will be a risk to buy the machine and hope for the best, but there is definitely a good chance it will work.

Not at all, if it's not giving a proper image.

Ah - "PAL I", the "I" there almost certainly refers to the audio carrier frequency.
In the next image the TV says "NTSC I", which doesn't exist. If you have an NTSC source that doesn't work with the TV already over RF, there's no reason to believe that any other one would.

Almost no TVs in Europe support NTSC over the RF input, "NTSC compatible" refers to the video inputs only. The fact that your TV is reporting "NTSC" as the signal type means nothing if it can't show a visible image.

I think the point he's making is that his PAL SNES isn't working on the NTSC channel, which suggests that a NTSC signal should work.

Maybe you should try getting a Famicom Jnr instead? It has AV output as well as RF. And for the love of Krishna, please buy an RGB SCART cable for your SNES... the picture will look so much better!

I did originally attempt to get a Famicom jnr but they are so hard to import. I can get a regular Famicom for about £25 on ebay
