    CPS-II replacement battery...

I want to get into the habit of replacing the lithium 'suicide' batteries as soon as the boards arrive from eBay, if they've not been stickered with the date of the last change anyway.

I have myself a really concise guide here on how to replace them, and it looks simple enough, the only problem is that the guide doesn't state (nor anywhere on the internet) which exact type of lithium battery I need to be looking for. I have a picture here but that hardly helps when I look on eBay.

Can anyone tell me the exact spec of battery? I don't want to have to trek all the way to Maplins and then open up a board there to show the sales staff, if it can be helped.

    Cheers.

You can either get them phoenixed, or ..

or theres a guy on ebay (vectorglow on AO) who does it for a fee also.

I bought two from RS (some guy I know got them for trade prices so it worked out as £8 for the pair), and I'm going to do them myself this week. not difficult.

Excellent, that's what I'm looking for. Cheers bud.

I take it one of these will work too? The higher capacity won't botch anything I presume? I have money that needs burning from my Paypal account so would prefer the ebay route.

Yeah, replacing looks like a piece of piss on the whole.

Yeah that should be fine also, pretty sure. Higher capacity won't be a problem, its the same voltage.

Ordered a couple from these the other day.

              price seems reasonable.

Replaced my two today, first ones I've ever replaced, all went to plan, piece of cake, did both in under 25 minutes.

They worked fine straight away after but cough, maybe I should try them again now its been a couple hours

Phoenix is the way togo, good luck avoiding a capcom_suicide.

Phoenix is ok, more expensive though and you're technically creating a bootleg. They are nice for the multi region select I guess.

The cost of phoenixing my boards would be more than what the boards cost me in the first place.

Just got my first board phoenixed 30 Euro's (including return postage). By Raz over at CPS2 shock. Would much rather that then having to remember to change a poxy battery every few years.

You say every few years but my SSF2X one was sixteen years old, I popped the capcom seals myself and it was still working fine.

Plus its a piece of cake and only £4, I've had phoenixed CPS2 before but I'd honestly prefer originals nowadays.

Would it be easier to wire in a connector and make the battery change easier next time?

Some people do the keystone holder mod, but it can come loose in transit if you ever sell it. Plus its only two solder points for the battery, if you can solder a wire to something you can swap a cps2 battery.
