    Snatcher Translation

Is there a translation or walk through for Snatcher on the PS1?

Nah. Just play through the Mega CD version mate. 'Tis far more enjoyable when you can understand it all.

There are walkthroughs for Snatcher on the Mega CD on Game FAQS. I don't know how different the two versions are though.

Don't have a mega cd I'm afraid. Picked up the ps1 version for £10 and I'm determinted to get something out of it when it arrives. I understand that there are diffrences across the many versions but maybe the mega cd/msx tranlastions could help. Anyone played the jp version with any success?

Yes, but, the best bit about Snatcher is how well the player is immersed by its storyline and dialogue. You'll get a million more times enjoyment playing the MCD version via an emulator than you'll ever get by trying to persevere with the Jp version IMO.

I've played through Snatcher 3 times. Mega CD, Saturn and PCE version. It's far more enjoyable in English. I mainly played through in Japanese to practice reading and to see the differences between them. I think the saturn version is very similar to the playstation version. It has crappy CG and worse music. If you can I'd emulate it first in English then maybe play through playstation version. At least that way you'll still have an idea of what is happening.

Just found this guide to the jp psx version tucked away in the sega cd walkthrough on game FAQ in case anyone else needs help http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/segacd/file/563492/9569

The MegaCD version is the best version especially in English. Well worth playing rather than one of the poorer versions.

Just playing this again tonight, never noticed that part where Gillian goes to the Ramen shop, and the scene taken straight out of Blade Runner. Only thing is i couldn't work out whether the guy was supposed to be Asian or Jewish...........!?

Oy vey, I couldn't either. I'm figuring Asian as Ramen isn't Jewish (although noodle soup is), but that isn't really how the voice actor played it.

Here are the differences between the earlier PCE/Mega CD versions and the later PS1/Saturn ports, courtesy of Hardcore 101:

A few years later, Snatcher was also ported to the Playstation and Saturn, although both were only released in Japan. The visuals have also been "enhanced" to add more color and detail, and slightly redrawn in a few places, but aethestically speaking, it actually looks a bit worse than the CD versions. Both versions are also slightly censored - all of the nudity is gone, you can't see the dog's guts anymore, and Gibson's head now lies a few feet from his body, so you only see it for a split second before the view pans upward. The Playstation version actually greys the screen to obscure some of the gore. It also puts a mosiac over a maggot covered body later on. These bits of censorship are not present in the Saturn version, but otherwise they're essentially the same. Both also feature two CG rendered videos that play at the title screen - one with Gillian chasing a Snatcher, and the other with Gillian meeting his wife and taking off in the hovercar, although it's missing the dialogue from the Sega CD version. These both reek of early 90s CG work and look terrible. There's also a new maze sequence when you're escaping from the Queen laboratory, although it's nothing really worthwhile.
Looks like the PS1 version is the worst of the lot

As others have said, while the Sega CD version is regarded as the best one and already exists in English, it makes little sense for anyone to go through all the time and effort to translate the PSX version. Sorry, that's probably not very helpful

I know it's the 'worst' version, however i'm limited to the hardware I have (jp ps3) so that's that I reckon that link I posted on the last page along with this frankly amazing walkthrough I stumbled across would be enough to get me, or anyone through the Japanese version. http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Snatcher/ sure it's for the mega cd version but as has been pointed out above there are no gameplay differences in the ps1 version, just graphical and musical changes.
