MegaPC was insanely expensive when it was released and a good generation behind (386 SX I think) what you could pick up in the high street for around half the price (486 DX).
edit: MegaPC was quite funny in that even though it came with a white megadrive pad, it also came with a popular design at the time white box with stick/single fire button style analogue joystick.Last edited by Boody; 20-05-2010, 20:08.

I've wanted one of these since since I saw stuff about them back in the day, but to be honest I don't think it would be worth it. It's too low spec to be any use as a retro gaming PC so the only real reason I would want to get one now would be to have a real Mega Drive with a VGA out. I don't think I'd be prepared to pay that much for it, especially with expensive shipping.
Kind of a neat collectors item though.

That Teradrive was the Jap version of the MegaPC, the main difference being that the Jap unit came with programming software and book so that you could program the Megadrive part of it although there was no real way of saving your programming outside of RAM, which kind of defeated the object really. The other noticeable difference was that you could use any monitor and speakers with the Jap unit but had to use the Amstrad specific monitor (with its built in speakers and bespoke connection lead) here in the UK and in the US IIRC.
Sugar assumed we were too think over this side of the world and omitted the programming part of the MegaPC when it was launched here.
