For awhile now I've been coming up with a scheme for a UK/PAL centric website that focuses on the UK market. With the system being a bit of an underdog at the time compared to the Master System and Megadrive the NES never really got many releases official or otherwise and there is less than 300 titles.
Until now there hasn't really been much of a UK web presence for the system with everything focused on Europe, Japan and the US so with my own PAL A collection going well past the halfway mark (all the UK titles) I decided to start to create a site with some design help from the chap behind RGCD.co.uk
that offers gameplay vids, reviews, articles, podcasts, forum, interviews with NES programmers, Nintendo mag editor, publishers etc Quite a big task which I'm busy beavering away on.
Anyway one thing I'm determined to offer is full viewable scans of the free Nintendo magazine that was given away on a bi-monthly basis from 1989 to approx 1992 (when Nintendo Magazine System took over as a paid for mag) called Club Nintendo. I have spent many hours and days, so far I have the following issues scanned which I plan to offer as either downloads or simply viewable from the NES site when it launches:
Vol 1- Issues 4 and 5
Vol 2 - Issues 1 to 6
Vol 3 - Issues 1 to 6
Vol 4 - Issues 1 and 2 (not sure how many follow but I believe Vol 4 is the last year)
Specials - Classics issue, Strategy Guide
I have a big chunk of all the available issues and none of these are available online not even on the mighty RetroMags site which is no surprise as it was a throwaway freebie focusing on the UK. However this is why I'm appealing to my fellow retro collectors
I simply want to borrow the issues I am missing so I can make some scans. My only request is that they be in good condition no tears or rips and I will happily pay postage both ways! I would only want them for a few days and would make effort to do them as quickly as possible to get them back into your hands as an example I have posted a couple of snaps of some scans done so far.
It's a lot to ask I know but thanks to a fellow Youtuber I have amassed a big pile of the magazines which I've scanned already for the sake of the site and I would love to be able to provide the rest for people to read. So please get in touch!
