    C64 Emulation

    Hello

I just want to play through turrican 1/2 on a windows C64 emu. I've spent the past hour trying to get one to load a D64 image and each emu I've tried has a niggle where it doesn't respond to my gamepad, or just sticks on the splash screen of the game.

Some of them are overly complex like its some kind of missile control software, I just want a simple windows gui one with 'load .d64' and a decent input configuration screen, so I can play!

    Any suggestions? cheers.

Vice seems to be the most friendly one so far but even that has stopped loading after the initial sound sample from the game.

it works ok but I can't get the controls working, bah I give up. They are registering on the little led's down the bottom when I press a direction but not doing anything, fuu.

Is the gamepad recognised by Windows in the controllers setup in control panel? If so, you should be able to select it as a device in the joystick menu of Vice. As for the games themselves, generally you'll need to press space or run/stop (escape on the PC keyboard) to get through the crack screens and trainer menus, and select True Drive Emulation on in the menu as many disk games will need it to function properly.

yeah its detected as a gamepad in windows (ps2 pad via usb converter), and even in vice on the little dpads on the status bar of the window it shows them working, but not in game, I got it to move a little bit but it just didn't want to control as normal. Not to mention the disk loading time was actually emulated too so it took a fair while to load and I thought it had crashed.

I guess I could play it on keyboard but bleh.

might resort to watching a youtube walkthrough haha, so lazy.

To speed up, warp mode is Alt + W

You have the joystick set to the correct port for the emulation? Most games used port 2...

Played through turrican on keyboard, still holds up as a great game, turrican 2 next.

I have a soft spot for master of magic as I used to love it as a kid. Its damn hard though.
