    NBA Jam/Hangtime: Best Version?

Which is the best version? SNES? Saturn? Hangtime on the N64? Wii?

Biased as always but I loved the SNES version. Bought a first basketball for my young lad the other day and as soon as we went to the local court I couldn't resist lobbing it from one end shouting "..from downnnnnntownnnnnn!"

I loved the Mega Drive version when it came out although the SNES one was always reckoned to be better. I've just bought Street Hoop for the Neo Geo and, sadly, it's no way near as good

In the Jam series, I always found the mega drive version had a better button layout for the game, but aside from that the SNES and MD versions are almost the same. Tournament edition is a must so you can play as Clinton or the Fresh Prince.
I think the Hangtime line was best on the N64, because the disc based versions were plagued with load times. Though they did have uncompressed music.
If disposable income is on offer, I'd get the original Jamma board for Maximum Hangtime. Has a few overall updates and greater difficulty.

The new Jam is ace but I'd wait for the HD versions for online play and high resolution players.

I preferred the vanilla (MD/SNES) NBA Jam to TE as you could smash the backboards.

Wasn't Hangtime released for the 16-bit consoles too? I too would like to know how it compares with Jam/TE.

I preferred the MD, had, oddly, one or two more sound effect I believe, or it at least had a couple that I preffered over the SNES version.
The new Jam is good, but I still go back to MAME for the early NBA JAM arcade revisions with the MK characters in tact. Having played the Wii and Beta version of the 360, there's little difference between them, other than the Wii one seems tougher on default settings and no HD/online play - nice flick of the wrist alley-oop on the wii though
