The 12 Most Expensive Video Games in Tokyo

    Hi guys,

Wired are running a feature on the most expensive games ever. A trip down memory lane for the lucky few.

    The Most Expensive Games Ever.

    Regards

That Metal Slug X is vastly overpriced. You can get one over here for under £300.

Shock Troopers 2 is also, and that did have a US MVS kit release. oh boy. You gotta love the errors in these reports.

Pretty boring, other than the huge prices.

To be fair, the article is what it says... the most expensive games in Tokyo. Not ever. Just a run down of what is being sold for the most in the capital...
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

Touché good sir. But yeah they should have used overpriced in some of them.

Every gamer knows that MD Tetris is one of the most expensive games on the planet yet it doesn't make the list? Surely it's not so rare that even shops in Nakano don't proudly boast mutliple copies of it behind reinforced glass? I mean, I've seen pictures of really obscure stuff like a Vampire Killer Gold Cassette on display, and those kind of games make Yoshi's Cookie Kuruppon Oven de Cookie seem about as rare as Madden '93.

Don't really think Super Potato is really the best place to gauge "the most expensive games in Tokyo" either..

Same here. Super Potato price their stuff so high so it WON'T sell. that way they always have the "cool rare" stuff in stock. You can find a lot of that stuff cheaper but not that cheap.

But I think list is correct for most expensive games in Tokyo, but for rarest games it is not.

From experience, games in Tokyo, particularly Akihabara, can cost as much as 10x the normal amount.

problem is that any talk with the staff about what price those Gold Cassette games are and the copy of Tetris they have is met with the equivalent of "they aren't for sale - well, they are - but forget it... "

i've mentioned insane figures but they won't budge into an actual chat about selling the items. Seems like a bit of a c0ck tease! That said, even i'm not dumb enough to pay stupid costs for the gold cass. titles. They simply aren't worth it.

Seen a lot of hate for the article and it's simply not warranted. Kohler fills out the back story to many of the games as to why they are so pricey which most self proclaimed "experts" know **** all about, regardless of whether he's "right" on the pricing (which given what is and isn't available i really don't think he's wrong about - for stuff that is actually available right now i don't see too much to complain about). Another point to make is a lot of the rare stuff in TK is rapidly disappearing - i noticed it with alarm about 2 years ago and now it's racing away. Go try and find a full boxed copy of Iron Commando - stuff is on the way out. This feels like the last hurrah.

I don't think thats true for all. Last Xmas when I was in Super Potato the prices were pretty reasonable some stuff that was usually around ?80 a time here was just under ?40 there so it certainly helps to search.
