Used to really enjoy Speedster on the PS1. Had a nice solid graphics engine and some fun courses. It was nothing special but good clean fun.

I loved Iron Man (only played on the C64) and a couple of codemasters things:

Neo Driftout is my favourite I think. RC de Go! is kinda awesome too.

Super Skidmarks on the Amiga was, and still is, the best.

Super Off Road was good too, the amiga version of that was great and it was also one of the few decent racers on the NES too actualy, though that version dosnet hold up that well these days I dont think.

Super Cars II on the Amiga. Not only it was a fantastic top-down racer, it also had those hilarious quizzes!

I think Mashed Fully Loaded is the absolute pinnacle of this now niche category. It was largely overlooked by the masses which sadly means we'll probably never see a sequel. I love everything about this wonderful game, even the often dodgy physics are fun. It's easily one of the best 3 / 4 player games I've ever played. Non split screen 4 player games are very thin on the ground and Mashed is just superb for this along with games like Worms and Powerstone 2. I think it wipes the floor with the Micro Machines series and other notable games in this category. If only more people tried out this game or it was better advertised it might has achieved something other than a lousy "cult" following. It would have been amazing on xbox live.....

I have Mashed for my Xbox, and remember enjoying it in mutiplayer. I may have to wire it up again for a shot.

I think the semi sequel Mashed Fully Loaded is considerably better. The cars all handle differently now and there are some cool new levels. It's available on PS2 also. I'm not sure if it's 360 compatible as it was a PAL only release.

Are any of the Mashed games BC on 360? (goes off to look).

edit: apparantly yes for PAL. NA unknown.
edit2: according to the ultimate xbox game list, full loaded was only released in PAL land and is region locked.

I haven't played one since Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart's Super Offroad Racing (if that was the correct title!) on the Spectrum.

In fact, now that I think about it, me and my mates spent hours and hours just playing the DEMO of that! I don't think we even had the full game, lol

Best place to re-put this, due 2011 now for XBLA/PSN.

Gotta have some Rock n Roll Racing, tis a classic!

*Wistfully remembers playing the guts out of F1 Circus on MD many years ago*

What a game that was, speed was incredible even when playing a JP version on a PAL machine, real rollercoaster gaming. The graphics/sonics/presentation had this jazzy, Martini-style atmos, a real stress-free, golf game type of vibe.

Pity the SFC version was munt, Mode 7 utterly ruined the experience.
