Hey peeps. Does anyone know what the first arcade machine to feature the later common notion of adding further credits to continue? Early games such as Space Invaders, Pac-Man and so forth a were basic score challenges of how well the player could do with a single quarter credit. Which was the first game that allowed you to keep playing by depositing more cash?

It's the earliest arcade machine that I can think of that allowed you to continue your game. Tempest was the first game that allowed you to choose your starting level. There was a discussion on another forum about what the first game with a "scanner" was... one guy was profusely arguing Defender, but I countered that Battlezone, Rally-X and Wizard of Wor had all come out in 1980 as well, so it's wasn't that easy to figure out.Lie with passion and be forever damned...
