Apparently is is a Hong Kong version of Mario World 2. Screams of fake to me but I am not expert.

A little research has dug up that HK got a PAL super nintendo, not a famicom.

Is this correct?

It's very much a PAL design. (The tiny image reproduction surrounded by black borders on the box.)
