Well, i've had time to sit and play some games on it today, and I have to say I absolutely love it!!! My PCE and NEO stuff just looks brilliant. Using the XRGB-2 with it to get scanlines makes it like having a whopping 40" 4:3 crt. I thoroughly recommend anyone who's in to their retro to pick one up.

didnt fancy the pioneer one as I'll bet my XRGB + VX300 does a similar job, if not better... I did however buy that Sony BVM-20F1U Pricey but I bet it'll be quite stunning!

        Cheers Speedy!

Just picked up one of the Pioneers from Ikobo and ran some 360 Arcade content via VGA- OutRun and Daytona look stunning, even if the latter is in letterboxed 16:9. Feels like having a large arcade monitor in the bedroom! Photos to follow when it's eventually set up properly.

Again Shozuki, 240p 2D image is best for showing off your CRT.

                          Lovely thread.

You know what the sad thing is though? Those of us who appreciate a good CRT set-up, with the RGB SCART and other inputs, are the tiny minority. I wonder if in 20 years time we'll be like those people who still use vinyl. Could there be a resurgence in CRT for retro gaming? Will there be a way to emulate the look of true CRT visuals on modern HD TVs?

Or is what we were are experiencing now purely fleeting, to be talked about in the history books. I feel like an aged whale hunter, seeing the old ways fade away.

I use a Samsung 55 LED. The consoles are upscaled via a DVDO iScan HD+ to 480p and then I use an SLG3000 for scanlines. Its pretty close to CRT (no decent CRTs in Singapore).

My friend and I recently went into a Sony Centre and were horrified to find that one of their new screens had no SCART inputs at all. We're testing equipment and trying to get the best look for our old consoles for that sad, inevitable day when our last CRTs die. Probably why I have a room full of them now, to my wife's chagrin.
