    Most accurate Neo Geo emulation?

I was just wondering what is the best way of playing NeoGeo games outside the original machines or ROMS?

Are the ones on PSN Neo Geo Station 60hz? they seem to have put a fair amount of effort into them from what I can tell. I know there are not many on there which is a shame.

So, yeah, counting all the console ports, emulation, what would be the best examples that are closest to the original.

I've not done any hardcore comparisons before but my favourites are the Wii VC and Mame4Droid running on an Xperia Play. I've not experienced any faults or even slight dodgyness. Perfect so far.

Ah ok, yeah, I forgot about the Wii ones. It would be cool later on if you can play them on the Wii U Pad I guess.

I would have assumed the original roms are closer (by this I mean those through MAME etc. Not like Simpsons on XBLA for example), although it would depend on exactly what you were playing.

Having played just about every emulator out here and then the equivalent on XBLA etc. I'd tend to veer towards the original roms where possible. If you are talking about accuracy, then something like BSNES (and that isn't an AES/MVS emulator I know!) is something along the lines of what you are asking I think, since BSNES is a Snes emulator that replicates the exact architecture of a Super Nintendo. Because of this is requires a high CPU etc. Way more than that of an average emulator like say ZSNES. All emulators will have an element of disparity between the original boards/carts and the roms usually, but as I say this is down to the emulator rather than the rom.

Again, it depends how 'accurate' you want the emulation to be. As I suppose technically no current emulator will emulate it 100% perfect, but will do about 99.8%, so you or I would not notice the difference. I guess also the advantage of using MAME etc. is that you can overclock the emus to eliminate slowdown etc. But again, this is therefore less 'accurate' than the original hardware as you are getting rid of something that would be present in the original setup.

A further point of note would be the TV/Monitor setup - as the original Neo hardware will look different on an LCD to that of an emulator due to resolutions etc. But someone else can get into that

Think he was taking the urine.....

I have ALL the neo games emulated pefectly on the the 1st xbox; DD audio and true 720p via component too; technically a massive leap from the aes outputting rgb. No glitching, no tearing, no audio dropout,no interlacing, no lag...perfect. set it up any way you want from the massive range of options that the emulator provides.

Whack in a neo geo 2 ps2 stick and xbox pad convertor for even better effect. If you really want that nostalgic arcade feeling, get yourself the MVS artwork packs (movestickers/strips/mini marqees etc) and display them when you play!

Best joke I heard all day!!!

The PSN Neo Geo station is very good, as far as I'm aware they are 60hz and have tons of extra options and online play. A few of the earlier games aren't quite perfect Metal Slug 1 has some odd screen flashes but aside from that there really good.

The later releases Metal Slug 2, King of Fighters 96, Shock Troopers are nigh on perfect, well worth the cost.

I agree 100% with the idea of using an original Xbox. FBAxxx via component 720p looks absolutely gorgeous, plays every game I've tried and, coming from a former AES owner, is as accurate as one could wish for. Get a big f*ck-off stick for it and you'll be laughing.

I have an Xbox loaded with Neo stuff. So tempted to hook it up and get a component cable now. Where to put the damn thing though!

Someone regularly sells Xboxs with CoinOps on another forum, and I have been tempted… but yeah, where on earth would I put it.
