Things I miss about cartridge gaming..

I had some free time over the long weekend, I dug out the N64 as I really wanted to play 1080 and WaveRace, I love both those games and could spend hours shaving milliseconds of my lap times in time trial. Whilst I was playing it struck me that I just never do this in modern racers.. even arcade style racers.. and once I've completed them I don't seem to go back either...

I hadn't played on it for over a year, was able to start a game within seconds of plugging it in, no patches or updates!!

All my old times (and my brothers ) were still there, I didn't need to dig out a memory card..

If I mess up a lap and know I won't beat my time I can restart instantly, no loading screens!!

one other thing I miss is beating the previous owners times in pre-owned games, I bought wave race second hand and had great fun trying to get my name to the top of the leader board on all the tracks..

I find myself turning to retro more and more as I have less time for gaming..

Same. 1080 is an amazing TT game. 1080 avalanche was pretty good for TTs but not as good as 1080, even though restart was pretty rapid. Excitebike 64 was quality because the faster you went, the more new posibilities opened up - I spent hours on the 3DNes port bonus level alone.

I'll play tonight and try and post up my new times for Crystal lake.

On disc gen consoles, the TT in Mirror's Edge was equally as addictive, but too complex on some of the stages. On the plus side, you could download the fastest time on the whole of XBLA and watch and learn and try and beat.

Dion Blaster LOL sounds like a pornstar!

I was a Kensuke Kimachi man when I played. Ninja balance over speed.
