I got 5 brand new Dreamcast games for ?2 each when GAME were clearing out stock after Sega's demise. I distinctly remember wishing I had more than a tenner on me. Only game of the 5 I can remember now is Street Fighter Alpha 3.

There was a shop on Oxford Street that sold brand new DC games for ?10 each but it disappeared really quickly. I assume that they were selling liquidated stock or something.

Just remembered: a brand new Virtual Boy from Gameplay, when they were selling off their imported US stock for ?40 each. BNIB Super Metroid from Argos for ?12 as well! There used to be a great trick where you could enter the number of something from a previous catalogue that had disappeared in the new one and pick up that item for a hefty discount. Got lucky that time.

Saw a boxed Neo-Geo console & game, might have been Nam1975, in a Gamestation window for ?50 once, this was sometime in the late 90's. Wish i'd have picked it up.

Just remembered another, i was in Cex in Rathbone Place sometime early 2000's, it was when they were closing the amazing retro section they used to have downstairs. Went in and asked if they had any Neo Geo Cd games, the guy came out with a stack of about 15 different games, all brand new and all English, i asked how much and he said fiver each, i snapped them up Still got all of them.

Most memorable for me was walking into a Game store once and finding Suikoden I and II sat there for a tenner apiece. Very nice.

Ooh, and when the guy in Poole Market had taken in a copy of Gunbarl, clearly thinking it was an import of the original Point Blank, and sold it to me for a couple of quid despite it only being a month or so old.

Loads over the years. A few off the top of my head:

Both best and worst and one I've mentioned before - Atari 2600 multi-cart changer shop display thing. Somehow got it on eBay for 6 quid. Couldn't keep it as I was living in a pokey flat at the time and my other half was going spare at this huge thing. Swapped it with a mate for a Nomad and a bunch of other stuff. Last I heard someone had offered him a grand for it.

Picked up SOTN at a boot sale for a fiver.

Complete NES Deluxe Set from a boot sale for, IIRC, 25 quid

Another one to kick myself to death over - when you couldn't move at a boot sale for SNES and MD consoles, a guy had a mint, brand new US SNES. Completely untouched, he'd bought it in the states and when he got back stuck it in his loft and forgot about it because he wasn't sure if it would work here. I turned that one down as I already had more than one SNES. Idiot.

Multimega - 15 quid from a boot sale. Sadly I had to sell it when times were hard. Think I got 70 quid for it

Same here. Got a US snes with 5 or so games including a complete Secret Of Mana for ?15 at a similar time.

I got a PAL NES Action Set, missing the Zapper but with everything else, and CIB copies of SMB2 and SMB3, all for a tenner off another kid at school. In about 2000 or so.

Not really had any other stunning bargains, certainly nothing to match what's been posted in this thread.

Got 2 mint boxed NES consoles, 1 Super Mario 3 pack and 1 Action set & about 10 mint boxed games, and a mint boxed Commodore 64, with boxed disc drive and loads of boxed games, all for free. My girlfriends Dad had them in the loft for about 25 years, and gave them to me.

Anyone remember when Telegames were clearing tons of brand new PCE games at ?5 a pop years ago, and AES carts for ?5-15? Jesus, I bought box loads. They soon turned in to a horrendously overpriced joke of a supplier after that though, I remember them asking for ?1000 for MotW's a few years later when the going rate everywhere else was ?250-300.

I bought all of this for ?700 from a member here, an amazing deal at the time -

It would probably be worth at least three times as much now, probably more.

I imagine you diving into that pile of glorious retro loot like Scrooge McDuck in the opening of Ducktales.

                            Amazing haul, Colin!

I bought a SNES, plastic storage case, JP/US converter and a handful of games for ?4 because there was no plug!

25p later and I was rocking Parodius!

And of course recently there was this bundle, bought for about a third of its value if sold individually -

Yeah, yeah, but you couldn't make a sandwich on your sideboard for ages!

Just dug out that SNES haul. I bought a couple of the games afterwards, but most of this was in the box. The plug was ?1 though. I left the sticker on for posterity!
