PS2 or USB controllers on Xbox 360 - solutions?

As titled. Recently bought a 360 for some cave shmupping action but the stock controller's d-pad is pretty jank. Anything that lets me use my Saturn PS2 controller or USB 8BitDo controllers would be ideal, but I'd settle for something like a Wii classic controller.

There's a 10-year-old thread on this site giving positive impressions of the Xtokki 360 adapter, which looks to be about as easy to get hold of as you'd expect from a specialist third-party product from over a decade ago... Anyone else able to weigh in on that one or alternatives? Since input lag is a make-or-break for this kind of game I'm a bit wary of trying cheapo unbranded stuff.

I don't have any first-hand experience but just from keeping an ear out, Brook converters generally get quite positive reviews, specifically from a lag perspective. From their product list, a few talk about providing Xbox One support, but the Wingman XB more specifically mentions the 360, and it is also seemingly still a product line they're actively producing / selling.
