We seem to be leaning to a two horse race though it's a wonder as to which will win in the end

I think this is the final with the most consistently good games, there's only a couple on there where I could really take or leave them.

Super Metroid is a weird one for me as, as someone who didn't own a SNES in the 90s, the very first one I ever played was Fusion. But I can imagine it being mind-blowing at the time.
