A few good ones here. Voted for...

Championship Manager 96/97. This was, in my opinion, the apex of this franchise. Not long after this, the developer and publisher split, with the developer joining Sega. This was a Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons situation where thereafter, the CM sequels were Football Manager and the games actually labeled Championship Manager were a different game made by different people. Also, IIRC, this one had a fun "feature" - the game came out a bit late, and the real-life football season had started, so there are events which take place that are hard-coded into the game. For example, Manchester United will always win the Charity Shield by beating Newcastle 4-0, no matter what you do.

Civilization II really needs no clarification; for many years this was PCGamer's "best game ever" and it deserved it. I don't feel they bettered the formula until Civ 5.

Red Alert, again, no need to explain.

Dead or Alive kicked off a series that has some of my favourite fighters.

Finally, Dark Savior. This is a weird one as I've only played a bit of it, and I really hope to get the chance again. Unique game for the Saturn, which shows how good its games could look in the right hands. When I finally get a good Saturn emulation solution this is very high on my list.

3DO memories like Captain Quazar haunt me

Broken Sword is the one for me at the time and still now, I'm in the minority of not enjoying CnC : Red Alert as much as the original

Broken Sword for me, it did that rare thing of being a point and click on console that captured your attention. Plus, it can never be forgotten for its ruddy goat.

Dark Savior is one I've endlessly planned to try one day

Monster start for PC, CM 96/76, Civ 2 and Red Alert, so they get my vote.

Dark Savior is a great action RPG, really enjoyed it back in the day.

I guess nobody else is a big fan of Crimewave on the Saturn then?
