Why would you do this to us?

It's like choosing your favourite child - it's impossible to do!

A Link to the Past. Pure timeless 16-bit video game design perfection. Super Mario World has two or three sprites that let it down, and I hate to say it but the level design for the vast majority of it hasn't aged too well when sat next to Nintendo's efforts in that specific field from 2010-2020. The same can't be said about LttP's dungeons and overworld/s - it still stands tall.

Picked just one. Picked the one.

FWIW, I think my second would've been Super Metroid.

One thing that helps with this one for me is that the first half of the poll options are largely superceded by their own superior sequels in the second half of the poll

The perfection that is Super Mario World.

Chrono Trigger although I had to pick Metal Slug and DOOM as well. I was going to include Half Life but those final levels in Xen…

Now that is a list, way too many to pick just one or two, you should restrict the number you can pick from, so far i can easily choose a dozen.

Went for MGS. Could easily have been Mario 64, which is the ****ing Citizen Kane of videogames to be honest, such was its innovation, but I just love MGS too damn much. An incredible experience that's dear to my heart. Shenmue would be my third choice.

This is how my Mum votes for Strictly. Votes for all of them thus invalidating her own vote.

                      Laughable.

SMW absolutely sh1ts all over any NSMB game today. More charm and personality in it than any bland generic identikit 2D Mario Nintendo have churned out since NSMB Wii.

To be fair, almost all the games on that list are not just exceptional but some of the best games I’ve ever played.

Chose Sonic as it’s one of the defining games of my childhood and despite other games (Like Doom) are right up there, Sonic holds the strongest pull. Beautiful graphics, some of the best music, fantastic level design and the memories playing it back in the 90’s with family and friends who are no longer here, trump all the games there.

                        Classic.

Wow, my childhood in a list!
Just missing Sensible World of Soccer.
