Sin and Punishment is so good. Basically the reason I own a N64.

Some big hitters in that list, but none I played near release, so none I can tick, really.

Of the games on this list that have a good reputation - Skies, Sin and Punishment, etc - I have played zero. So nothing to vote for for me here.

I'm kind of wondering what I was playing in 2000. A lot of Pokémon Gold and Pokémon TCG on Gameboy I suspect. It was a prime year for obsessive Pokémon play.

I did play Sky Odyssey recently via a PS2 emulator. Pretty cool game but rock hard.

EDIT: Oh wait, I tell a lie. Code Veronica is on the list. Played that not so long ago for the first time but it's a superb game. So I voted for that.

I loved the first half of Code: VERONICA with Claire, unfortunately the second half with Chris was absolutely terrible.

Skies of Arcadia steals story hooks from Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy VII, but it was wonderous exploring that imaginative world at the time, so I'll let it off. I have a ton of happy memories playing that, and it's one of the few games which actually stirred up some crazy dreams. I hope it doesn't date too much by the time my lad is old enough to read his way through it, because it's on the very small list of games which I plan on forcing him to play.

Sin & Punishment, though. What an absolute belter.

Oooh, Shogun: Total War. Fantastic game and kicked off a fantastic series.

I wouldn't go as far as to say absolutely terrible, but it's definitely a lot weaker. It slams the brakes on just when the game is ramping up nicely, and it messes up the usual delightful pacing of the Resi games.

I was saying this earlier in the Resi 4 thread, but my theory is that it was originally two scenarios that they decided to combine at some point in development. Which was a mistake - it would've worked much better as two separate, shorter scenarios, each about 8 or so hours.

Love Skies of Arcadia even with the intense random encounters.

Ship to ship battles were great fun.

I wanted to vote for this... But I just can't, as in the day, I only got to play the PAL version, which Namco borked, leaving us UK gamers high and dry. For years I thought it was crap, only to finally try the Japanese one last year and absolutely loving it.

Yeah, I was lucky enough to play the Japanese version first. Shoddy pal treatment from Sony … especially when the Dreamcast was already offering 60Hz options.

It was just poor all round, considering various games like Dead or Alive 2 followed very soon after with 60hz options.
