Critics Club IV: Game of the Year 2000 -The Final

Which of the above games is amongst the absolute best of 2000 and why?

Metal Slug 3 for me. Super happy memories of buying an AES for it when it came out. Loved it then and still enjoy going back.

Pretty easy Deus Ex for me.

Just gonna come out and say it - while none of the games here are bad, compared to some of the other line ups we've had for earlier years, this is a pretty disappointing final selection. I considered Sin & Punishment and Marvel vs Capcom 2, but went with Capcom vs SNK in the end.

There's several I like but I went for RECV and PD in the end because I think that for their time they were the closest to match gameplay with pushing things like a AAA of the time should

Yeah probably Deus Ex for me as well with Jet Set Radio and Colin McRae Rally 2.0 very close behind.

I’ve played and enjoyed seven of those from their release dates. All good games, some great.. It’s just unfortunate for them that they released the same year as the sequel to GoldenEye.

Despite its flaws I'd till have to go Metal Slug 3. It would be. close run thing between that and Jet Set Ration though. MS3 at the time just felt like the pinnacle of the kind of 2D gaming I absolutely adored (and still do) and to own it on AES at the time was absolutely epic.
