I can't see wot all the fuss is about.... game mechanics wise and graphically theres so many better titles than this from peoples comments... i'd certiainly never pay more than 50 for this title... theres a phrase for this "ebay madness"... if ebay wasn't around this title would never reach these stupid prices...

I'm awful at it, but personally I love RSG.

As for it being graphically ugly... For me the title is quite simply the greatest example of programming I've seen on the Saturn. It really stands up to anything the Playstation or N64 threw out at that time.

I'd go as far to say RSG is still stands up today on an artistic front. It also helps the game has got an immense amount of depth. Thankfully, it's one of those shooters which I've always felt accessible to me... That I can get into.

I'm not saying it isn't as hard as nails, because it is... But that Silvergun doesn't immediately overwhelm you like so many shooters can do.

I downloaded (a while ago) some dude going through the entire game without firing a single bullet!

The movie was called "RSG: Sword Play" and is well worth downloading.

I came across it after I had bought the Ikaruga Appreciate DVD and I must say I was more impressed with this guys RSG skills...

Yep, I've seen that, too -- it's absolutely amazing (just wish I could remember the link).

                  <ears prick up>

Sonico has nasty habit of downloading anything video style to do with pretty much anything atm, so does anyone have a link to that vid or even better the one that was released on vhs of some d00d playing thru RSG in 1 life mosq-style? Or could u come in a DC++ room I occupy or sommat to pass it over. Cheers.

The sword play vids of RS are done by VTF, the same guy that did the (much more impressive IMO) 2 player vids of Ikaruga on his own. Incidentally he is currently working through the chapters of Ikaruga again, this time on normal difficulty.

WIZ also released an RS vid (he is the top scorer ever at the game) and he also holds the best ever score record for Ikaruga in normal mode (36M+).

The sword play vids are quite boring to watch I felt, and you really dont get a feel for how difficult what he is doing unless you play the game, the sword is impossibly hard to control at the best of times, but the way VTF uses it you would think it was easy.

WIZ's RS vid is boring to watch too, the problem with RS is that you need to milk the bosses for all they have got for all their time for the best points (you get points for scraping bullets) and so this just ends up watching them waiting for a couple of minutes on every boss not doing a lot.

There is some crazy skills on show, but personally I think the Ikaruga appreciate vid is of higher quality. Check out the hard run on the DVD if you havent too, that was done by Yusemi who is the top scorer in hard mode and in Psyvariar and Psyvariar Revision.

some of those RSG Sword vids were big, think the biggest was around 50mb ? Great gameplay though, I think RJP is right , Ikaruga is the ultimate in control and firing prefection in my opinion, even though I'm crap at it I can appreciate the skill needed by the top players.

I think mine was ?50 from CEX in 1998.
I missed it on the shelf but my then girlfriend noticed it.

I had no idea then that it would double in value of course. I just wanted to play it.

I paid ?95 for mine and sold it for ?80 4/5 months later after polaying it to death. It was pretty cool but ultimately i found it very frustrating when i messed up a combo.

But it's blatanly overpriced. The market price's kept artificially high by people hoarding them...
tbh, I have no qualms pirating it. I'll give Sega ?30 for it, but I'm not giving some random guy off the streets an ?80 profit for it.
