Heh, Speedball 2 and Xenon 2 were amongst the first group of games I ever played. Both were most excellent .

Is the magazine that Mario phone's from, C+VG March 1991 with the Super Famicom review of Super Mario Bros. 4 (SuperMario World)?

I remember reading it in hospital all those years ago, whilst recovering from having my appendix removed.

lol i had that magazine back when it came out, but i remember not wanting it as i didn't have enough games utilise it

back then my dad had just got us a megadrive (60 quid from loot) with altered beast and eswat. as you can imagine, altered beast lasted five minutes before a night of eswat goodness. by then we had streets of rage, sonic, castle of illusion and madden '92 (dad's game...)

as for xenon 2, i loved that! i was working at watford CeX (on my lunch break i swear) playing ikaruga on GC and some middle-aged man said 'is that xenon2?' heh heh. i told him its similar (i was lying of course)

was in birmingham yesterday and saw in the market a guy selling a mario phone boxed, he wanted ?50 for it though, seems very expensive to me so i didn't buy it.
he also had an atari 2600 woodgrain for ?50 boxed ect. and loads of dc. n64 games consoles ect.

I don't know how much shipping is to the UK as I got it sent to an address in the US and posted on.

It has a standard ring (quite loud and shrill) and a load of Mario voices - "It's for yoo-hoo" and "Don't forget to ring your Mamma" are the only 2 I remember. I have to confess that I turned the voices off after about 5 minutes as a) it drove me nuts and b) it was a "pick me up and break me" magnet for my kids.

So I see - for some reason I couldn't get the original link to work and presumed it was the one I had.
