I watched the Blind Side and Oscar

The Blind Side was an easy watch, if a little cliched and polished over, but it was heartwarming and non brain taxing....... Im not really sure how Sandra Bullock's performance deamed it Oscar worthy, as it was a typically standard performance IMO. There was a lot of plot holes and points they glossed over, which any normal human being would have raised above all otheres, but I guess they need to progress the movie beyond them otherewise it would have been too long. I feel the movie did drag a little thoguh...... The end credits was a nice feature at the end and helped the message hit home what the film was really about........

But I enjoyed it for what it was and I give it a 7/10

I have seen Oscar before, and I luv how insane it gets with the script and how Slyvester Stallone handles it all in his on unique way........ The movie is still as funny as when I forst saw it. I absolutely luv the whole Italien mob style set up, from the accents to the clothing style....... The movie doesn't win any Oscars (see what i did there ) but is a decent watch and a laugh a minute....... 7/10

          Just two this week.

          World's Greatest Dad
. Black comedy with Robin Williams. Okay film, entertained me largely throughout.

The Human Centipede. Enjoyed this. Actually a watch-able horror film. Not amazing but cool.

            Robin Hood

What a pile of self-indulgent cack. It's a pure 1 star affair though an extra star or two can be added depending upon how in awe of Ridley Scott the viewer is. It's his Avatar.

Quite interested in this cos one of the hosses that used to be at the local stables is in it. More interesting than that mopey old knobber Crowe anyway.

Saw American: The Bill Hicks Story last night and really enjoyed it. Given the nature of a movie versus the length of even a short life like his, much was just mentioned in passing and some chunks completely missing. But what was there was really good.

Told through interviews (though rarely do we see those talking), old footage and loads of motion graphics made from photographs, it's his life story from the moment he decided to do comedy. I didn't expect to see footage I hadn't seen before but there was quite a bit of very old footage (poor quality but that didn't matter). I do wish they had gone easy on the motion graphics in the first half. It's obvious they didn't want to do a talking heads documentary but the downside was that sometimes it was hard to keep track of who we were listening to and I felt some of the tone and even context was lost a little, not being able to see expressions that go with the words.

There was much more recorded footage later on because that's when people were taking an interest in Hicks and, then, they showed more of the actual people interviewed, even though I felt it was needed more at the start to establish who these people were.

Still, a good glimpse into not just Hicks but his close friends too.

Really tempted by this. The two makers were on Radio5 last week and managed to make it sound interesting and like it was able to offer me something new. My fear, as a huge Hicks fan, would be that it couldn't do him justice. Nice to hear more favourable reviews.

Drag Me To Hell. Best horror film I've watched in I don't know how long - so much so that I was a little disappointed on the occasions it went in a typical Sam Raimi comedy/horror direction.

Just finished watching this. I have similar feelings. A good solid horror film, but really would have been better without Raimi's trademark goofy ****.

I don't think it would've worked as a straight horror. You needed the humour to 'escape' the endless stream of nasty stuff happening to the girl.

It would have been hard to watch, but I enjoyed the horror parts enough to think I would have accepted it. Special mention to the ending actually, I think that image will stay with me for some time.

Yeah the ending is great, such a punch to the gut that you don't know whether to laugh or be shocked.

Incidentally, on the subject of comedy horror, What's taking The Hole (Joe Dante) so long? It's been finished for at least a year. It's apparently coming out in September here which will oddly mean it'll be out of the cinemas by Halloween.

Seems to be a trend of finished horrors just lying around for an age. Human Centipede was showing at film festivals last year and is only just getting a cinema release.

I watched Ip Man 1 and Ip Man 2 this weekend......... such quality action sequences........ really felt the hardship that was portrayed by Donnie Yen......... Both decent movies......... But i'd say that the first one was slightly better, as it felt like it had more time and thought put into it......

As they are semi-biographical, it is rather glossed over in certain areas, and from what little knowledge I know of Ip Man himself, the movie tells some rather tall tales of the great Wing Chun master.......

Overall, two quality movies from the Eastern cinema -

                              8/10 for Ip Man 1
                              7/10 for Ip Man 2

oh dear...... I watched this on sky last weekend, and it kinda bored me at points........ I think I was put off by the main lead, as she didnt come across well......... dunno why, but she annoyed and frustrated me to tears..........

Some typical Evil Dead type moments, ad that damn car was back in it again lol........

Still, there were some quality gross out moments....... And that

                                old lady

in the movie is just vile........

I really did not like the ending though, nuh-uh.......

                                Carrie springs to mind
