I'm obsessed with Fist Of The North Star again.

Heart of Madness is my favourite tune from the album of the film's music.

Watch the group[Kodomo Band] playing it.

Everyone I know - who I've introduced FOTNS to - love this song. I bought the album a few years back; came in a cool case. Made a copy - keeping the original minty.

        brilliant tune.

        theyre all good

        "you wa shock"

        "do survive"

but unfortunately "tough boy" that was the opening theme in the 2nd series sucked.

Just out of interest, has anyone watched any Fist of The North Star 2, the series where Bart and Lynn are grown up and Kenshiro has a beard? It has the most awesome intro music ever ():

I've heard it's ****e though, and I can't find fansubbed versions anywhere ATM.

EDIT - Hivemind **** going on there from Nightstalker. I was typing this post when he posted...

just go to heartofmadness.com for all your dload needs

Without giving too much away, HNK 2 is set a few years after the events of HNK1. It doesnt come close to the majesty of series one - personally i think the nanto wars ("Beginning of Part Three: Supreme Rule in Turbulence! As The South Star Fades, The North Star Appears!!") is the highlight of the series, c. eps 50 to 70 ish with souther, shuu and yuda all principle players. Closely follows is the final story arc involving the nanto goshasei ie five charioteer stars, the guards of the 6th nanto rokuseiken or whatever he is known as. Juuza is one of my favourite characters.

In HNK 2 Raoh, toki are all dead and kenshiro is left wandering. Bart and Lynn lead the Hokuto army and Rihaku the Ocean is now old and also part of the army. Basically a third fighting style known as "Gento" emerges, another so called rival/equal of hokuto (this sereis like the first is full of contradictions). Ken returns kicks ass but we're introduced to some new characters particularly "Falco" the lead gento practictioner one of my favourites who is equal to kenshiro is many ways. The series sheds some light on kens past too and gento/hokutos connections and lynn plays a critical part in the whole story

The second part of the 2nd series focuses on the island of Asura and it gets real interesting here. I wont go into too much but put it this way teh inhabitants on this island put HNK 1 fighters to absolute shame - to be a shura one must win 1000 fights. Ken travels to this island and well.... you can watch yourself.

The quality of animation is better than the first but you get a feeling the creators are just making it up as they go along and esp. whats revealed on the island of shura contradicts alot of the HNK1 stories - particularly origins of raoh and toki. In many ways i wished they'd left at ep 110 of series one. Some of fights are epic tho.

That song[Tough Boy] is on the original movie album. I like most of the tunes on it. It contains a good mix. Tough Boy makes me laugh.

The track which plays during the end credits of Hokuto no Ken 2 is called "Love Song" and is quite cheesy, imo!

"I don't like love, 'cause I love you..."

That song is also on the album I have. ... I really like it.

The lyrics "I don't like love, 'cause I love you..." ... probably means that loving someone under bad circumstances, is difficult, if not painful. We all know that love isn't all about happiness and bliss. Ken & Julia certainly have a hard time in the film. Their love stays strong though.

Leon, I had no idea you were such a deep fellow!!

Don't get me wrong...I like the song as well, and like yourself I can certainly appreciate the message within it (although how much of it actually applies to Ken & Julia is questionable given that the song is used for the Hokuto No Ken 2 series set long after

                    Julia is dead

, iirc), but the song is undeniably cheesy and the line "I don't like love, 'cause I love you..." is undeniably "engrish", imo.

Anyway, like yoursef I also love the Kodomo Band tracks from the Hokuto No Ken OVA. I will see your "Heart of Madness" and raise you some "Purple Eyes"!!

(BTW, I never realized just how gorgeous this sequence is in HQ/HD. If the DVD re-release is anything like this, it will be an absolute must-buy!)

Just one thing I don't get about HnK. Why, when Kenshiro thinks about Yuria, he always sees her in a Swiss Alps / Germanic-looking pine forest kinda environment? In the ending for the original anime series there's vinyards and everything. I'd always assumed that being a martial arts master and all, he'd be from Asia somewhere...

The original anime movie basically serves to recap the early part of the TV series up to the end of Kenshiro's first fight with Raoh - he still hadn't found Julia at that point.

If I remember the end of the TV series correctly,

after Kenshiro's second and final fight with Raoh, he is reunited with Julia but tragically learns that she's dying of the same radiation poisoning that afflicted Toki. Ken & Julia eventually retreat to a secluded farm where she spends her last days.

Not sure if that explains all of it, but that's the best I've got!!

That'll teach me to ask difficult questions I guess. It's just like that time I asked my teacher where babies come from...

                            LOL!! Apologies, Matty!!

I did consider putter spoilers on what I wrote (which I will now do), but I assumed that you'd watched the most of TV series.

                              Yuria is still alive

after foolishly browsing the Wiki article a while back.
