My money's on it being ruined no matter who directs, by over excessive use of CGI. It was a film of the time, and all of us who loved those classic films are being set up for a fall.

I will wait until I see a trailer to judge it personally, and the script was written in the 90's so cgi was not part of it back then and its jungle set

Is this one not coming under his "movie I made for my kids" banner? I heard it was gonna be Predatorz and its the children of the original film's characters now taking up the fight!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with the word from the man himself about the newly announced PREDATORS. Harry reached out to Robert Rodriguez when the news broke and sent some questions. Below you'll find how this started, get an idea of what...

Robert Rodriguez: Way back before I did Desperado, I had taken a writing assignment for a sequel to Predator. With a nod toward Cameron's ALIENS I decided to call it PREDATORS. I set it on a jungle-like Predator planet. It was just a writing assignment, so I didn't have to worry about budget constraints or how the movie would actually get made with the technology that existed back then, so I just wrote any cool thing I could come up with.
              Interesting idea, though…

I've built up an amazing team over the years at Troublemaker, and they're all huge PREDATOR fans. (I know this because Predator model kits litter our offices and workstations.)
We're huge fans, nothing can go wrong!!

That’s the same line Paul Anderson used before making Aliens vs. Predator.

You mean a charmless, dull, overly long style over substance mess that attempts to be "gritty and realistic" in a way that completely misses the point of the original?

                  Wow. Can't wait.

Tsk. There's nothing like an Internet message board to remind you that you can't please everyone.

Say what you like about remakes, but Rodriguez will make it good.

His DVDs are brilliant, too. Hopefully we will get a Predator inspired 10 minute cooking school (check them out if you haven't - the 2 so far are brilliant!)

I love how most are dismissing this out of hand !
I will wait till opening day after I watch it to make my mind up on this

People have been bitten one too many times. Given the track record of attempts to rejuvinate franchises, though there are definitely some notable exceptions, it's reasonable for people to be more skeptical about this than hyped.

And, of course, it can be often far more rewarding to expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised than to expect good things and be disappointed. I know no matter what negative things I may say about this, I'll always be hoping to look like a complete ass if a great movie is delivered.

While I understand that feeling, I have some faith in RR
