Yes really do 2001 on Bluray is one of the format's top treats imo.

And the original Total Recall is one of the best movies made imo, seen it a fair few times shall we say.

I'm up for a remake that's different, they really don't need to tread the same ground again. Maybe they could use the original title too?

Casting news. Essentially it's Farrell, Beckinsale, Hawke, Biel and Nighy

Sounds interesting. It's one of my favourite Arnie films and obviously my immediate thoughts are that Colin Fareell does not equal Arnie. But if they are going from the original story then it could be quite a different film.
Don't look at me, I'm irrelevant.

First images have been revealed from the set and it carries some of the styling of Arnie's version. No doubt the film will end up being very different in the end but it does tempt me to dig out the 80's version again.

I saw the original again a few weeks back and I started thinking about how impractical Quaid is.

I mean, if he's got this disguise that has only two phrases, surely something that would help the ruse last longer than the passport office would have been more productive?
              "I'm visiting my sister"
              "I don't speak English"
"I've always wanted to visit Mars"
              "I've lost my voice"

Instead he chose "Get ready for a surprise". I'll grant you that it was a pithy comeback, but if he'd chosen a more sensible 2nd phrase option, he'd not have needed a pithy comeback in the first place.

Have...have I thought about this a little too much?

Did you know that's the "Two weeks" actresses actual passport?

Back on topic - I'm in the This doesn't need a remake camp.

I think Quaid chose those phrases because that's how Arnie's mind works with every character. Always thinking situations through under the assumption he'll have an AK-47 under his arm when he needs to say them

Yesterday we saw the first images of sets for the new Total Recall sets, on them some white-suited troopers. Now we've got the first image of Colin Farrell in the lead role of Doug Quaid, a factory worker who learns, or thinks he learns, that he is really a spy for one of two nation…

A little piece on it & the first official image

So this is the second pointless remake Colin Farrell has been in recently. For some reason it makes me dislike him even more.

could you really dislike him anymore?

I have to admit im all for remakes, or prequels, or sequels to classic films... but this is one, if not one of the very very few, i would say no - there really is no point. This is an arnie film, this film was great because of him - like T1 & T2, like Commando, like Running Man - they were all his films. The fact it has Farrell as the main role makes it even more painful.

But saying that, im not one to judge something before I experience it myself - so i shouldnt be so negative. I just dont understand it...

It's gonna be a hard one to do, the first one worked well because of arnie and the comedy the setting and the goofy prosthetics. The story itself could easily be interpreted in a less silly form, but with the Arnie one being such good entertainment it's going to be hard not to draw comparisons.

Confirmation that the film will still have the 3 boobed woman! Sadly, also confirmation that it will be released at roughly a 12 Rating

I didnt know they were allowed to show two boobs in a 12 rated film, nevermind three.

I guess no-one is getting skewered through the face in this one then? I can't stand when they make films with a view to it being a 12. Its like driving down the motorway in 2nd gear.
