Funnily enough I Just picked up Darkman on HD-DVD

Never actually seen it all the way through, so looking forward to giving it a watch now.

It's better than Rush Hour and Mark Dacascos is an astounding martial artist.
      +1 for Drive.
Holds up really well and is worth watching.
It should actually get a +10 for including a Virtuality machine as a fight prop.

Ha ha, yeah! I forgot about the Virtuality machine!

The guy singing karaoke in the Apollo bar at the end is Gunnar Hansen, aka Leatherface. They originally planned to have the final battle on the giant rocket outside as it fell to the ground, but had to abandon it due to budget restraints.

Love the motel fight scene where he puts boots on his hands to defend himself from stun sticks and he tries to do Bruce Lee's beckon. LOL.

Can't believe I'm not the only one who's seen this awesome film.

I think I'm going to find Class of 1999. It's one of those films that, as a kid, I'd pick up the box and wonder how scary it was. Chopping Mall is another one that was probably never as scary as I thought...
im watching this thread not to worry, and thanks all..

I've still got a standee from Darkman in my living room from when it came out on video and I was skanking away my summer holiday working in a video shop.

God, I loved that film. Still do.

Another 80's action/comedy film I highly recommend is the brilliant Midnight Run. De Niro and Charles Grodin are great together and really work well off each other. The script is endlessly quotable and it's just an all round blast with a fantastic cast to boot. It's personally my favourite De Niro film, I know his other classics such as Godfather, Once Upon A Time In America etc get a lot of love (deservedly) but this is the De Niro film I've watched and enjoy the most.

                Great soundtrack too.

Jonathan Mardukas: Did she hurt you, Jack?
                Jack Walsh: Yeah, she did.
                Jonathan Mardukas: I'm sorry.
Jack Walsh: What're you sorry about?
Jonathan Mardukas: I'm sorry you're hurt.
                Jack Walsh: I'm not hurt.
Jonathan Mardukas: You just said you were hurt.
                Jack Walsh: I'm not hurt.
Jonathan Mardukas: I just asked you if you were hurt and you said "Yeah, I'm hurt."
Jack Walsh: That's because you made me say that.
Jonathan Mardukas: Jack, you're a grown man. You're in control of your own words.
Jack Walsh: You're goddamn right I am. Now here come two words for you: Shut the **** up.

Seconded. This was a belter of a movie. De Niro and Grodin were fabulous together. The bit where he nicks the plane cracks me up as he's supposed to be feared of flying and he's a pilot .

Charles Grodin is vastly underrated and we should see more of him.

Another good one with Grodin is Filofax with James Belushi. Very very funny. Not an action movie but such a good film i have to recommend it.

If you ever see the made-for-TV sequels to Midnight Run advertised, run away screaming very quickly.

Been working my way through some of the recommendations and so far (well, I’ve seen two ;p) they’ve been great.

First one I got my hands on was The Last Boy Scout. Now I'm not sure if this is down to my low expectations but man, what a film. Arguably Bruce Willis’s best character imo, and there's some hilarious one liners. The part that really got me laughing was the knife scene with the cliché camp bad guy:

“You think you’re so ****ing cool…”

                      *holds knife to Bruce's eye*

"just once I’d like to hear you scream.”

                      *silence*

Bruce: “… play some rap music”

The other film I managed to get hold of (Morrison’s ftw) was The Arrival. Pretty good film, felt more sci-fi than action tbh. Also, seemed to tail off half way through

                      - went downhill after he escaped the base.

Really think we need a ‘Kick Ass Sci Fi film’ thread.

Last Boy Scout is great, I'm a big fan of Shane Blacks Dialogue.

Lethal Weapon, Last Boy Sout, Long Kiss Goodnight and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang are all top notch IMO.

Watched this the other night. Hilarious stuff.

Never really been a fan of Val Kilmer’s, but him and Downey Jr were smashing together. I bet they had a right laugh when they did the

car battery scene where Val had to talk dirty to the homophobe.

I'll definitely have to go back and watch a few more of his films.

Also, I didn’t realise he was Hawkins from Predator - unbelievable, that's another Predator success story.
