I watched dawn again today, the extended cut, 2:35min, such a classic.

^Yup. Some of the Amazon reviews, they say the remake gives more 'emotional attachment' to the characters, wtf?!

When Roger gets bit on the leg and slowly starts to die (over the course of the best part of an hour, and it's good!), it always brings a tear to the eye.

Plus, Ving Rhames > Ken Foree? I don't f*cking think so!

Despite containing way too many characters, bonkers plot developments, atrocious acting, appalling accents and crap CGI, I quite enjoyed it. Mostly due to the performance of Kenneth Welsh as Paddy O'Flynn - a curmudgeonly, yet likeable, Oirish rogue. It pales in comparison to the original trilogy of course, but it's a far, far better film than Diary.

Also, talking of Ken Foree, I was browsing through the dvd section in Asda and nearly jizzed in my pants when I stumbled across something called Apocalypse of the Dead, starring and executively produced by a certain Mr Foree.

Alas, it's to be avoided at all cost. The cover LIES! It features a muscelbound, tattooed skinhead, arms outstretched in a Jesus pose, a machete in each hand, surveying a city in ruin. Below him are hordes of slavering undead as far as the eye can see, while a squadron of helicopters patrol the fire engulfed skies. Just imagine my disappointment when I got home, 8 quid lighter, to find it wasn't actually a big glossy Hollywood production but rather a low-grade Serbian zombie film. I'll repeat that. A Serbian zombie film. A country which should stick to what it's good at, I dunno, committing war crimes or something, because they're **** at making zombie films.

Poor old Ken. The glory days of Kenan and Kel seem so far away.

Survival of the Dead is £7.99 at Play.com.

I've seen Ken Foree! He was at the Memorabilia show in Birmingham last year.
In fact, over the years they've had most of the cast and crew of the Dead series, including George A. Romero (shoulda gone to SpecSavers...).

I'm watching Zombieland with a few mates tonight, which'll probably hit the spot better than Survival... will.

                this is bad

managed about 1 hr of it before i HAD to stop it.

Totally unlikeable characters, about as much sense of desparation/anxiety/and end of the human world as we know it as a merry-go-round and acting/production values from neighbours

dont even bother with it - just put on the original dawn if the dead....

George - hang the hat up and dont bother with any more...

                  Harsh. Poor ol' George.

I liked the characters... but I also think this film had value in its story, which was tied into the character of O'Flynn (who I liked very much) and the family feud. The desperation/anxiety/end of human world as we know it/merry-go-round he has well covered in Dawn, Day and Land. The few survivors in a desperate apocalypse story is one he has told probably better than many ever will, and certainly better than he ever will by the looks of things, in Dawn.

One thing I appreciated about this is that it looked like that was the story it was going to tell, but then the whole Plum Island story took over. It wasn't about the end of human world, it was about just getting on with the human world and the denial that went with that.

He'll never top Dawn. This isn't that movie. But, criticisms aside (and I have many), I enjoyed it.

Actually, we saw it at the cinema and loved it!

We're seeing it again because it was a laugh. Woody's character is great.

i love Woody, meet him in Amsterdam one year too. I am getting really hard to please filmwise nowadays. The faintest wiff of rubbish makes me reach for the remote.

recently saw Harry Brown which i loved
