I had a look at Monsters Inc earlier. Looks as lovely as you'd expect from Pixar, it's region free, and the Japanese one has English DTS-HD Master Audio. There's a comparison of the various versions with direct shots from the Blu-ray here if you want a look at it.

I'm just buying it when it comes out here, but if you can't wait go for it.

Yeah, it looks great, nice and unfiltered (unlike the likes of Kung Fu Panda which look good, but not single-pixel-sharp good).

The Japanese BD is the international version (the same one that's always been used in the UK), so on screen text is sometimes replaced by world-friendly graphics instead.

Anyone have any problems trying to play the T2: Skynet Edition ?

Can't seem to get it to work on my laptop and my ps3 is region A so i can't try it on that

Seems to load past the part where you select your region, shows skynet access something or other then leaves me on a blank screen and just doesn't load anything after that.

Tried updating the bluray drive firmware to the latest one on sony's site and the latest version of the windvd player jus seems to make things worse.

Only info i can find online about it doesn't seem to have any solution.

Try leaving it for a while. It's probably either updating or trying to update the online stuff.

Finally got it to work by playing it in powerdvd ultra.
Don't really understand why it works in one program and not another...

Shame i only managed to get it to work when i'm about to go sleep though =_=

Tested it out a bit earlier today, the film noise on it is bloomin crazy. But then i was right close to my tv when i was checking it out, probably won't get on my nerves viewing from a distance.

I guess all of the optically composited special effects will result in a lot of grain buildup.

I'm glad they didn't use edge enhancement or whatever to soften it up. Still looks lovely regardless.

I think the first problem with Alien 3, much like what could go wrong with the Terminator franchise is they started with the idea of making a movie, then try and scramble for ideas and a script instead of having an original outline idea in the first place....or a reason to make it other than money.
I think the producers of Alien3 had a strong vision for the film. Unfortunately, their vision wasn't grand enough. As a film in the franchise, it definitely didn't live up to expectations or peoples desires, but.. it does have its own look and feel. I like the actors and the sombre tone to the proceedings. Far from a 5/5 experience, I'd give it 3.5/5. I like it, but don't love it. Alien and Aliens are the only films in the franchise that can be labelled classics.

Mine came yesterday as well! \o/

But now I'm looking at a new TV, I don't want to watch anything until it's in. Also have Gran Torino at home, which I haven't watched yet. What does the Machinist look like? I can imagine it's pretty brutal in HD, but it's a great film.

It looks good, But since the film is suppose to have a monotone colour palette it does the job, i actually really love the grey drab colours in this, just compliments the story, characters and overall theme perfectly.
