Very sad. He's made me laugh a lot over the years. I'll finish with the greatest two word gag ever:

      Nice beaver.

Was watching Scary Movie 3 last night. Mostly pap but his scenes had me in stitches, particularly the Mother Theresa awards bit.

Can't believe he's died, huge fan of his

Sad sad loss, his comic timing and delivery with the deadpan expression were peerless. Hope one of the terrestrial channels does a series of his films.

Leslie Nielson has provided so much joy throughout my life, Airplane, Police Squad & Naked Gun shaped my own humour along with my family and friends.

He's been in the best comedy films ever made along with some of the worst! A truly brilliant guy and the world is a darker place without him in it.

Along with Dennis Hopper passing away this year, a lot of my childhood heroes are slowly fading away.

Don't usually post in RIP threads even if I am bothered (sounds evil but i hope you know what I mean), but RIP, as someone mentioned, some of his films are probably responsible for my humour too, I remember as a kid watching the Naked Gun films with my dad, never seen him laugh so much, and Airplane is one of my favourites of all time mainly because of him, out of respect I'll be watching it tonight

                          Crickey! He was 84!!

Absolute comedy gold. Gonna watch me some Naked Gun. Do they still do Red Rock cider? "It's not red, and there's no rocks in it!"

its a shame. Detective Sergeant lieutenant Frank Drebin is one of those characters that shaped my childhood too.

i bought this last week so im gonna watch them all in tribute:

Really sad news. He was always so much fun, great honest comedic performances from him. Could always bring a smile to my face. Loved Police Sqaud years ago (bbc2 i think at the time) him a Ed, and the word on the street with his tipster Johnny ! Hopefully, they put a run of films on t.v. To remember him...

Lt. Frank Drebin: You know, sometimes I envy you and Edna. You have the same person every day for over 30 years. You wake up, eat with her, sleep with her. Make love to the same woman.
[Ed looks increasingly disgusted as Frank goes on]
Lt. Frank Drebin: You spend every possible waking moment together, while I'm out running around with a bunch of 20-year-olds who only want a good time and cheap sex sex sex. Girls who can't say no. Girls who can't get enough. "More, more, more. It's your turn now to wear the handcuffs... "
[Ed starts foaming at the mouth... literally]
Lt. Frank Drebin: I just want love, Ed.
Ed Hocken: I'm sure you'll... find love, Frank.

I guess this thread will be full of quotes. One last one...

Frank: Just think; next time I shoot someone, I could be arrested.
