The Irishman - Scorsese, De Niro, Pacino, Pesci, Keitel

Based on a true story! Gangsters!

One incredible set of actors involved. Be good to see De Niro acting again rather than his "comedy" schtick.

Isn't that four actors who have really just become parodies of themselves? I'm not sure I can take Pacino seriously any more. He just doesn't look people in the eye and shouts randomly. Is that sacrilegious?

No you are correct, even DeNero is ridiculous now but hopefully scorsese can get something out of them.

Absolutely. Scorsese will knock them into shape.

Surely this is one last pay off for all these OAPs? Last thing I saw De Niro in was The good Shepard and he was a shadow of his former self. In fact Pesci was in that too albeit for about 5 minutes. Just watch 5 minutes of them in raging bull or Goodfellas and you'll realise this film, no matter how good it turns out will be no where near the magic of those films. With that in mind what ever scorsese cooks up for them should be more than palatable. Even though he had to give The Departed an alternative "hollywood" ending compared to the original.

Weeeell, I quite liked Gangs Of New York, though it wasn't up there with Goodfellas or Casino. If it manages to be as decent as that film, I won't be too disappointed.

(Subtract kudos points, plus oodles of shame and respect, mind, for I actually think he's quite good as the grumpy (gran)dad in the Focker films...)

With Pacino these days, I always think of John Sessions.
