    Your favourite film music

Since there's a thread for video game music, I thought why not have one for the great movie tunes as well?

I'll start with some classic 80's themes:

^Very good call on the Escape From New York stuff.

****, so much goodness to choose from, here's some impulse stuff that at least I enjoy:

(from an old 80s video nasty called "Contamination", as well as "Zombie Creeping Flesh")

Watched this again recently. The main theme has really started to grow on me. Very sinister. The film itself is a modern day classic imo.

        Predator

Silvestri?s best work and possibly the best action score ever created. My favourite piece is the music that accompanies the montage of Arnie preparing for battle towards the end.

        Enemy at the Gates

Slightly tainted by parts of the main theme being reused in other films (ahem? Avatar) but nevertheless still a cracking soundtrack.

        Under Siege
It may not be as good as Die Hard but it does have more memorable music. ;p

        Casino Royale

Just because I love this particular part. ;p

Sure there's a thread on the subject already but my fave film score is Vertigo by Bernard Herrmann.

Yes, the Vertigo soundtrack is a masterpiece. I watched it for the first time last year after picking up the Hitchcock collection. Ended up rewinding the intro a few times just to listen to the main theme. ;p

                Gattaca. Epic tunes.

The Draughtsman's Contract. Influenced by Purcell.

I'd like to respond but how the **** do you post tube vids in your post?

On youtube, there's a part of the address bar that starts v=

So take for example my Gattaca vid:

You highlight the string of letter and numbers after v= and copy it.

                    So I copy 9ZPYdVl697g

Then on here, when you post a reply, there's a youtube icon. click it and it comes up with something like this (I've changed the spellings so you can actually see it in this post):

                    [yootoob][/yootyube]

You post the string of letters and numbers inbetween the brackets, like this (I've put in extra fullstops in the brackets so it doesn't actually insert the vid)

                    [youtube.]9ZPYdVl697g[/youtube.]

Then preview your post to see if it's worked.

On some youtube videos, the address ends with the string of letters and numbers, and also ?=featurerelated (or something like that). You DON'T copy that bit.

Could list loads but at the moment I'm going to stick to just one and list Paul Williams' soundtrack for Alan Parker's Bugsy Malone.

It's one of the strangest films but the incidental music and songs are perfect for it, I've always got the soundtrack on my iPod and never fails to raise a smile when I listen to it.

I was about to post the Blade Runner soundtrack, but should have known it wouldn't take long before someone puts it up. It's truly a wonderful score and fits the film perfectly.

Hans Zimmer is the master of epic action music, obviously his songs have been an big inspiration for Metal Gear Solid music:

Lots of classics (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Superman... anything John Williams really ) that I could list but I love this piece. Starts suitably peacefully, but by the end, it's got the cinema/house shaking, suits the movie very well. I'm not usually a fan of Hans Zimmer either.

Edit: Here's another recent good one. The entire soundtrack is equally as good.
