Flight of the Navigator, The Goonies, Short Circuit, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Batteries Not Included, Neverending Story, The Last Starfighter and ET are some of the greats.
More animated ones I remembered whilst writing this - An American Tail, The Land Before Time (not the sequels), Robin Hood (the one where he is a fox).
And as for the Studio Ghibli work tbh I find them quite creepy in a way, almost a bit like how the old Disney movies were.
