I'm assuming that those at the top have sunk a lot into blaming things like the various strikes and the pandemic. Apparently they're reducing the debt by $1bn per year so they're likely riding it out though the streaming service one day getting axed feels likely. The famous higher ups strategy of failing upward.

California Sets New Digital Film & TV Law - Dark Horizons
The state has signed a new law from next year that makes it illegal for digital store fronts covering music, games and TV/Film to list releases without making it explictly clear that those paying for the item are only granted access to a revokable licence and do not own their purchase.
As part of the law it will no longer be legal for store fronts to use the term Buy or Purchase on their listings. If stores offer permanent offline downloads, such as GOG, they can continue to use the terms. A list of terms must be shown marking out the conditions of the licence and any company not complying will be found guilty of false advertising.
