    RIP: Ernest Borgnine

Star of over 6 decades worth of film and TV including Convoy, Escape from New York, The Black Hole, Poseidon Adventure, Flight of the Phoenix, Dirty Dozen, Airwolf, ER he died yesterday aged 95 with his family.

My mum will be very saddened, she always liked him because he looks and acted just like my Grandad.

A proper legend, he was awesome as Shack in Emperor of the North too. Some other classics are Bad Day at Black Rock, The Wild Bunch and Ice Station Zebra.

I loved it in The Wild Bunch where they lose one of their gang in a firefight and he's totally emotionless:

Pike Bishop: You boys want to move on or stay here and give him a... decent burial?
Tector Gorch: He was a good man, and I think we oughta bury him.
Pike Bishop: He's DEAD! And he's got a lot of good men back there to keep him company!
          Lyle Gorch: Too damn many!
Dutch Engstrom: [removes his hat] I think the boys are right. I'd like to say a few words for the dear, dead departed. And maybe a few hymns'd be in order. Followed by a church supper. With a choir!
Lyle Gorch: You crazy bastards! Both of ya!

            Ah, ****.

Was only just thinking about this guy last week, I seemed to think he might just make it to one hundred. Another bit of my 80s dies.

Also, turns out he was in a film called Another Harvest Moon, which adds a neat little gaming link...even though it's completely unrelated to the Natsume farming sims, popular amongst men in their 30s.
