What's everyone listening to today?

Listening to Luke Vibert's new album. Kind of disappointing, really. There's a distinct lack of Vibert's trademark amusing moog...though I've a feeling I'll warm to it over time.

Also listening to a wee bit o' fusion. Billy Cobham's 'A Funky Thide of Sings'. WELL cheesy, but it sure makes me grin...and that 9-minute drum solo is pretty listenable too! Also have a Max Roach CD on the go, I forget the album title, but 'Nommo' is an AMAZING track. Love it.

Today, I have been mostly listening to Imogen Heap's new album, Ellipse. If you know her stuff, you won't find many surprises but it's mostly top-notch quality (mostly because I think the track Bad Body Double shouldn't have made the album). Tidal is a particular highlight. It's quite typical of her songs throughout most of it but adds an extra layer that builds and kicks ass.

I'm liking it.

I've been listening to both Beach House records this weekend, after a great set they played at the Union Chapel on friday.

Picked up Fleetwood Mac - Tusk today which looks like a meaty meal of an album.

2nd new Alice in Chains single, Check My Brain with their new singer, its totally brilliant and I can't wait for the new album now at the end of Sept.

Always loved this lot, their stuff was always preferable to me than the other music around at the time, even Nirvana.

I love the slow heavy riffs and huge sounding layered guitars, album is going to be great.

Been listening to some Reeves Gabrels guitar work, I absolutely love the sound that he's able to get out of guitars.



Although I wasn't a fan of the band, I loved his guitar work and Tin Machine were the first time I heard...

I'm hooked on Royksopp's latest album, Junior. At first I was not linto all the women singing on it, expecting more electronic instrumentals. NOW.... I love all the lady singy bits. The album is being abused on my ipod. Highly recommend it.
